  11. Oh poor Shadow!! Those black squirrels are kind of thugs, aren't they! At 8, Shadow really shouldn't have much to worry about as far as age related issues and anaesthesia go. Max had a dental earlier this year, at 10 and did fine (and many other greys have, as well). The pre-anaestheia bloodwork is very important, and as a senior Shadow should get a discount. If you are worried, there is a vet in Guelph who just does doggie dentals - Fraser Hale, very good. They just deal with one patient at a time, so all there attention is on your dog. And you can stay the whole time, be there when they put him under and as he wakes up. For a control freak such as myself, that is very important! If he hasn't had a dental, really seems like a good time to do it, given this injury as well. Hugs to the big black boy!!!
  12. So glad to hear such good news! Way to go Ember (and her daddy!)

  17. This happens to Max maybe once every other month or so. Typically what happens is he doesn't get around to eating his breakfast and I think he gets so hungry, he will feel sick. He will frantically try to eat grass, and refuses to eat anything - you can tell he wants it, but just won't take it. You can hear his stomach from across the room. I keep children's liquid gravol on hand, I got a big, fat eye dropper and shoot about 15 ml into him. It has always settled his stomach <knocking on wood>, I then give him a piece of bread, as soon as he is ready to take it and htat also seems to help the tum. Then, he is usually good and ready to eat a meal...maybe try a little liquid gravol or pepto bismol is supposed to help, too.
  18. Yikes Jan - it's so scary when something is wrong and we can't do anything to help them, isn't it! Hopefully it was just something "off" and he'll recover. But a trip to the vet tomorrow might not be remiss. He could have a pinched nerve or something like that, hurting. Today's it's better (just like a sore neck on us is sometimes better the next day) but a check on it might help. Gentle little kissies to the boy...
  19. Thank you for sharing Penny's last walk with us. I am so, so sorry that her story did not have a happy ending- she so deserved it. But now, she deserves her rest and her wings... :f_pink :f_pink
  20. I can't begin to imagine the shock and sadness you must be feeling! But I am glad you have such happy memories together. And to have passed the way he did - a nice full tummy, enjoying a car ride, going places with his people - what more could a hound have wanted? Hit ime here wasn't long enough, of course, but how peaceful for him... Run free, Loki - have fun, you're a good dog!
  21. I hope you find some answers soon, but in the meantime, am very glad Hobbes is improving!
  22. Whew - what good news! Way to go, good boy parker! Looking forward to the happy homecoming pics...

  25. I am so sorry for your loss of the handsome, loving and far-too-young Mac! His little "Mac-isms" at the end of your postings always made me smile, as I am sure he himself did for you every day. I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling... :f_red
