Just seeing this. I'm so, so sorry to hear about Steak. I have loved him from afar from the 1st time you posted about him. He was magnificent to look at; and sounds like one of the most special creatures ever. Your love story makes us all feel so good all over; but, now this, has us all hurting along with you. Sending hugs & prayers to you & your sweet girls that you find some peace with this devastating event. Sending my hope & prayers to Steak that he's running pain-free and bounding around with his well-earned angel wings giving grins & hugs to every old friend he comes across. He will forever be remembered.

Oh, how sad. How great, tho, that her last months were in a great home environment, not a kennel. Thanks for giving her that.

So sorry Dorie & you are going down this frustrating road. Poor girlie. Hoping & praying for answers and for something to work for her to keep her around for as long as possible --- and comfortable & happy. - for you, lovely Dorie. - for you, Chris.

You know, probably you could just vet-wrap her foot to keep the toe straight. At least to get thru the week-end. My Mccarthy broke a bone in her foot/toe a few years ago, and she walked on it (or held it up) for a day before I got her to the vet. The bone she broke was just above the toe, so technically not the toe itself; but still the vet thought it might not heal right and we might have to amputate the toe. But, it healed great - she was in a splint with the whole foot & leg wrapped for awhile. Since she's standing on it, I think she can make it thru the weekend with it wrapped.

I'm so glad to hear this good news! I'm hoping & praying for many, many, many, many, many, many, many more days for him, too! That picture of Lazer & Spirit is just precious!
