  1. Probably none but she knows she gets cookies for just about all of them....
  2. I tried to switch Enza to it but even with a slow transition, she did not do well on it at all. Constant upset stomach, liquid orange stools - she was a mess so after two weeks, I switched her to Nature's Domain.
  3. Based on everything I've read, they found nothing wrong with the Nature's Domain dog food but they pulled it as a "just in case". I was also told that Costco pulled all the bad bags and restocked with ones that are not part of the recall. Therefore, I will be buying the same food when I go later on this week. I will be keeping an eye out just in case, but because of Enza's food issues and financial reasons, it's the best option I have. (And really - did everyone here stop eating lettuce when they had the salmonella issue that killed people?) Now to sit back and wait for the "you are a horrible horrible dog owner" comments to come flying at me.
  4. I wouldn't be worried at all. I doubt it will register with her gullet but she will remember they are yummy.
  5. I think I am one of the few with a dog who cannot tolerate yogurt. Instead, I just throw in a probiotic pill on occasion.
  6. Does it matter now who saw what red flag and who saw a person asking questions? The dog has been returned and everyone is moving forward.
  7. I find walking over to the cookie jar will get Enza up off the sofa in a heart beat.
  8. Completely off topic. But you are officially my hero. I concur.
  9. I am sad I didn't get to meet this great boy.
  10. How long has it been going on? If it's only a day or so and not getting worse, I'd pause for another day. If longer, then I'd go to the vet. I've been dealing with the intermittent limp with Enza for about a year now. It would come and go and change legs. No one could figure it out and it was attributed to a soft tissue injury or sore joints. I finally went to the specialist last week and it turns out she very likely has compression in her spine which is sending signals of a "dead leg" to her brain.
  11. I just had to wrestle Enza for a half a dead, rotten fish. Consider yourself lucky.
  12. Of all the things my dog has eaten, butter is almost a god send.
  13. Sigh - never mind. My diva has lived up to her name again. She woke me up at 600 for her walk, ran down and up the stairs with no problem, tried to chase an evil plastic bag, and only flinched once or twice. I do think I will pick up some more pain meds just in case. It's a good thing they are cute....
  14. Tonight, Enza was freaked out by two little dogs barking and she ended up backing up into a curb. She sort fell backwards and sat back and then didn't move for a few seconds. She was fine for the walk back and jumped around for some Peep pieces. About an hour later, she got up and suddenly refused to put weight on that back foot that took most of the fall. As I freaked out and called the vet, she kind of improved but I took her in anyways. As I had grabbed my purse, she raced down the stairs, jumped in the car, did perfectly fine at the vets and since they were about to close and didn't want to charge me the "after hours" fee, the vet tech watched her walk, felt her leg and said that since she was putting weight on it and jumping, she was likely fine but to call in the morning. I also gave her a dose of rimadyl and cleaned up the scrapes on the back of her leg. Just now, we got up to go out for the last walk and again, she would not put weight on that back foot for a good few minutes and it took about 10 before she was willing to go down the stairs. I rubbed her down and walked her back and forth. It took awhile to get downstairs but she walked around okay - just slow and gingerly. As she knew I had peeps in my hand, she did try to walk a bit faster. It took us longer to get up the stairs but she settled right down after I gave her another pat down. We are going back to see a vet in the morning for a normal appointment but am not looking forward to the morning. Is she just sore? Broke a toe? It manifests when she first gets up - like it's a sleep, but once she is up and moving, she seems better. I should note that she did improve once I took the wrapping off....
  15. Oh! You can get there now as well? Awesome as my vet is out.
  16. What it could be is that she is more active because you all are home and doing things vs. a need to go outside and pee. I find, especially when the weather is nice, that Enza loves to go out more than once when I get home from work. She is more active at night but I think that is more because that is the pattern in the house. IE - I get home from work, we go for our walk, I make dinner, I clean, I putter, I fuss. If the weather is nice, she will sometimes get another walk. Once I settle down on the sofa, she settles down as well. But in that "in between" space, she is constantly watching just in case we head back out for another one. The schedule is usually a walk around 5:30, sometimes one around 7, then the final between 10:30 and 11. If I know the likelihood of a middle walk is low, I make the first or last one longer. On the weekends, she is more laid back because the pattern is not set. Try the training recommended, but also see how she settles in.
  17. Oh god - I am so so sorry. Is there someone you can call to come over?
  18. That also makes sense as she had just jumped up to get ready for the first walk of the day...
  19. Gave her a pepcid and she has since destroyed a stuffie, carried three sticks, greeted our neighbor's new Great Pyrenees doggie, hit me in the knee with a stick, and stole part of my breakfast when I turned my head. I swear her ability to heal herself just when I grab the keys to go to the vet is rather impressive.
  20. She did eat a ton of grass when I got her outside and a very very soft stool yesterday morning. But it's been much better since then and I was really taken aback at how she refused to move. Can I give her pepcid or anything or is this a "this too shall pass while I sit and silently freak out".
  21. Enza scared the crap out of me this morning and while she seems fine now, I am a little at a loss at what happened. At 5:30, she tried to wake me up with some whining, but I told her to go to bed and she did. When my alarm went off a few minutes later, I wandered to the bathroom and usually Enza follows me. When I came out, she was sitting in my doorway and would not move. When I say sitting, she was on her back legs and her front legs were tense in front of her. She tried to stand up, but wouldn't/couldn't. She also wouldn't lay down and her eyes were huge but she made no noise. She finally did stand up, but then sat right back down in the same position. With some gentle nudging, I got her to stand up and she very shakily walked to the front door but flat out refused to walk down the stairs. After she tried to lay down in the hallway (in a condo so not ideal), I took her back inside. As I frantically looked for my phone to call my dad, I noticed she was standing stiff and still and looking at a spot on her side (near the back of her ribcage). I rubbed that and she laid down for a few moments. Enza then got back up, leaned into me, and buried her nose in the treat bag on her leash. I then grabbed the leash and tried to take her outside again. She jumped down the stairs, peed fine, pooped fine, tried to chase a squirrel, barked at another dog, walked fine (no limp, no off gait, was not slow) and then sprinted up the stairs when we were done. AKA - she was fine and normal. I fed her and she did her normal "omg food is awesome!" dance. She did stand around for a minute or so looking at her side again but settled down on her bed and is fast asleep. I rubbed that side and noticed no scratches, bumps etc. What. The. Heck. I was ready to rush to the vet but now she seems perfectly normal. I will see how she does on her morning walk but
  22. Huh. Enza's being doing this a lot as well and I attributed it to the dry air in the house and her dry skin. I also know with the fluctuations in the air temp recently, my allergies are a mess so also assumed hers were as well.
  23. Enza will eat bread but I recently learned she will kill me for a slice of toast. Last weekend I had the stomach flu and the only thing I could hold down was toast. Enza would steal pieces at all opportunities no matter how sick I was.
