  1. My non-grey canine is on Soloxine. I make sure I give it to him every 12 hours. Some people said I need to give it to him without food and some have said just mix it in his food. What is your experience? Does it make any difference?
  2. Acupuncture/chiro was very effective for my two greys. Neither one of them was scared and it did not hurt them (well I did not hear them cry). They just stood there. Probably been doing it for seven years. One grey needed it for weak back and weak back legs. The other one needed it for renal failure. The same holistic vet also does prolotherapy (here is that word again). We go on a maintenance basis now every 6 weeks, sort of like a tune up. I really believe it has made a difference in the quality of their lives. It certainly can not hurt. One western vet wanted to do surgery and a myleogram (sp?). I opted to not do the surgery and do the acu/chiro instead.
  3. You are a good grey mommy and Spencer knows it! Hugs to both of you!
  4. Our prayers to Angel and her human family. We are thinking of you.
  5. Oh, now I know what GT supporter means. I just made my donation through PayPal. GreyTalk is the best resource information I have ever found. Making new friends, getting much needed information. I LOVE GREYTALK. I am the editor of our local greyhound group and just finished the Spring issue and told everyone they need to check out GreyTalk. Thank you thank you thank you! Was there a place on the PayPal to add our username? I did not see it when I made my donation today. If you do not see my donation come through please let me know as I definitely had the right intentions. The donation will come from Sharon Haugen. You can email me at adoptgreyhounds@sbcglobal.net Ignore my last recent post. I just went back on PayPal and entered my username. I have have had a "senior"moment. Thanks again! I am still learning.
  6. Is liquid health a product? Where do you get it. My girl's back legs shake when she has been running around in the back yard. I have been using the glucosamine from Claudia at the Greyhound Gany for about 4 months. Thanks. http://www.liquidhealthinc.com/ We have several customers that use their Fido Nutrients, but I do have their glucosamine formulas too. If you are interested, you can email me and I'll get you prices. sue@efcpetstuff.com I sent you an email and I just checked out the liquid health website. Is it the level 5000 that you give your grey? Thanks.

  8. That is wonderful news! Brandi also had a ting bone fragment that looks like it was chipped which caused her to limp. That is when I looked into the prolotherapy for her.
  9. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, support and advice/suggestions. Certainly appreciate it. I had a conversation with Marina at Natural Rearing www.naturalrearing.com and she is going to send me Cardio Complex, a heart lyophilzed gland concentrate with synergistic support; Traditional Tibetan Healing heart support and Cor Comp (liquid dropper). Marina is all natural so I am pretty comfortable with those items. Will keep you posted again on the 23rd after the next appt. ...not a greyhound. Duh........ blame that on jet lag okay? Well I think we assume all dogs are grey! Right? You can't blame everything on Jet.
  10. Thank you for the link. The dog I am referring to is not a greyhound.

  12. Took my non-greyhound dog in for his annual and the vet said he has a heart murmur. He is 73 lbs, neutered, age 6 and did not have the coughing or heavy breathing. Took x-ray which showed an enlarged heart. We meet with the cardiologist on Monday th 23rd for the ultrasound. Have had dogs all of my adult life but never a dog with a heart murmur/enlarged heart. Any advise or suggestions. Thanks.
  13. Oh, cool. I haven't been reading H&M much lately so I haven't heard it mentioned before. Could you give me a link so that I can read more about it? Thank you for the well wishes! While I was at work today I went on the internet to google prolotherapy. Seems to be a lot of information if you google it. The information was only for the human side not the canine side. Again my best.
  14. Tuna sure is a cutie. Give her a kiss and hug from me. What a great dogsitter. I agree with the other threads, a gift certificate to a store/restaurant/donation to favorite charity or gift cert. to a movie. Maybe if she likes to watch movies at home a gift cert to a video store or Netflix. What a scare that must have been for you. You and Tuna are in our thoughts!
  15. Oh, cool. I haven't been reading H&M much lately so I haven't heard it mentioned before. Could you give me a link so that I can read more about it? Thank you for the well wishes! Oh by the way when I mentioned you are probably sick of me mentioning prolotherapy I was referring to everyone on the list. There is a website www.getprolo.com but it does not give a lot of information and it refers to prolotherapy for humans. I had never heard of it before until I visited the holistic vet. Brandi stopped limping on the first treatment but we continue with the whole treatment sessions. My best!
  16. OK, by now you are probably sick of me mentioning prolotherapy with a holistic vet. My greyhound swears by it. She had a limp but it is was not arthritis. My holistic vet had arthritis in his knee and had an M.D. do prolotherapy, six sessions, and he swears by it. He is back to running. It certainly would not hurt to consult a holistic vet and ask him about the pros and cons of prolotherapy. My best to you and your baby!
  17. Hi we are in Reno, NV where it is still kind of cold. Have not learned how to post the pics yet but I am working on it. I am a newbie and just joined in Feb. under the username sharonhaugen but I just changed my username. Have had a greyhound in my life since 1995 or 1996. My Brandi just turned eight in January and I have had her for five years. So happy I have joined GreyTalk....it is the BEST!
  18. Thank you for the recommendation. I just ordered it. Going to try the 8 oz. Yes it is pricey but at this point I don't care
  19. I have not had any experience with a torn disc but I swear by prolotherapy. If you have a holistic vet in your area call him and ask if prolotherapy might help. My Brandi had a severe limp in the leg caused by something in the neck. We tried chiro, acupuncture, message therapy, ice/hot packs, swimming and nothing worked. The holistic vet suggested it. There were six treatments involved and we saw results after the first injection. www.getprolo.com We send you our best! In fact my husband it going to try it on his knee, bone rubbing on bone. Surgeon wants to do complete knee replacement but he will try the prolo first.
  20. I give Brandi 1 pill in each meal, fed twice a day, and just mix it in her food.
  21. Hopefully it is a one time thing. One of my old greys had a vestibular episode and it scared the be jesus out of me. Rushed him to the vet. He never had another episode. My thoughts and prayers are with you and hopefully it is just a one time episode.
  22. I do not vaccinate once a year. I do the rabies every three years. I have my holistic vet do a titer which tells us how much vaccine is still in the system. The titer is done once a year. Kind of pricey but well worth it. If I had to board my dogs, the boarding kennel accepts the titer certification.
  23. My Brandi has been on supplements since age 3 1/2 (track injuries). Acupuncture and chiro at the holistic vet has helped. Also I use various supplements from the greyhoundgang.org and Marina with naturalrearing.com. Best Friends Sanctuary swears by Azmira products. Also ask the holistic vet what he/she would recommend.
  24. I am sorry that I do not have any advice. I don't know what I would do in your situation but we send our prayers to you and Logan.
