  1. Maggie is a fighter. Thanks for the update. Kisses and hugs to Maggie and mommy!
  2. I would send an email to Dr. Jane Dodds and run this by her. She would have good information. Give Sunny a hug and kiss from us.
  3. Let's put our prayers and thoughts with the families of the 4 policemen that lost their lives in the line of duty in Oakland, CA.
  4. Going to do a follow up in 6 months. Thanks for the reminder about "put under" like for a dental cleaning. I forgot to ask that question. At least the 11 year old went peacefully. But still it must have been very hard for your friend to walk into that room and find that he was gone
  5. Still trying to figure out how to post and I do have the directions but might take me some time.
  6. An update on my non-grey (I guess I can tell you that he is an afghan). Jamison went in for his ultrasound today with the traveling cardiologist. Good news is that we do not have to worry about surgery, no meds needed and we don't have to be concerned about a heart attack. The cardiologist and I have been playing phone tag all day. She will be sending me a full report. Right now I am trying to find out if he really does have an enlarged heart. Thanks for your concern and replies.
  7. What a beautiful majestic girl. Again my prayers and healing thoughts to all involved.
  8. I want to send the healing candle. I am a newbie and don't know how. Could someone tell me how to do it please? Thank you.
  9. Seeing Logan's picture just makes me want to reach down and give him a big KISS! So glad he is doing better. Please keep us posted. What a handsome boy!
  10. Hugs and kisses go to Vinny and his mommy! Prayers and thoughts are with you and Vinny on Monday!
  11. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to Dawn and Maggie! I always have that fear for my three dogs. The male weighs 73 and he female is 55 and light as a feather. Please keep us all posted for the good news that Maggie is up and running again with no pain.
  12. OK, now I am mad at my vet for giving me the wrong information and mad at myself for taking his word for it and not doing the research! Thanks to all of you we now have the protocol and I am taking it to my vet tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day that my non-grey sees the cardiologist for the heart murmur.
  13. I agree with the Spencers Greyt post.
  14. I guess Dr. Jean Dodds does not take a day off as I sent her an email this morning (Sunday) and had a reply within an hour. She sent me the protocol and it does say on an empty stomach one hour before a meal or three hours after a meal. If anyone wants me to email them her response with the protocol, please email at: adoptgreyhounds@sbcglobal.net
  15. Hi I am Sharon Haugen from Reno, NV and we had snow last night. I have three dogs and three cats so each cat has its own dog. Brandi, greyhound, 8 years. Got her when she was 3 from the Mexico track. Jamison, afghan, 6 years, rescued from No. CA. Afghan rescue and Lexi, afghan, 10 years, rescued from puppy mill in CA. I am married and fortunately my husband loves pets (why else would I marry him). Cats are Pumpkin, Rusty and Samanth. I am VP of our local greyhound rescue, Nevada Greyhounds Unlimited and got my first greyhound, Sarah a 9 year old senior in 1996 and I have been hooked since. I love being part of GreyTalk!
  16. I can't find it, but if you email her and ask her your questions and her protocol she'll get back to you - quickly. My guess is she would be more than open to emailing you and your vet the protocol. I emailed her on a Sunday at 12:30pm and had an email response from her by 2:00pm the same day. I emailed her at: Hemopet@hotmail.com Thank you for her email address. I am going to email her about the protocol as I would like to share it with my greyhound group in the newsletter.
  17. Oh that is interesting. I have a great respect for Dr. Dodds. Me, too, she's a wealth of information wrapped in experience. We sent Carl's bloodwork to her for a full blood panel as well as thyroid panel. It was on the document typed under her interpretation of his results. My vet said that they used to tell people to give it with meals, but when they read that they saw that her protocol had changed. Thank you. We are now using her protocol as of yesterday.
  18. Fabulous news!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing. I really believe in the chinese herbs also. My holistic vet has sold me some herbs for my dog but I found www.naturalrearing.com and order from her on a monthly basis. Check out her website and she will also do a phone consultation with you at no charge. She is in OR.
  19. I have not had any experience with it but at one time I thought my grey might have it so I did some research. I found a site that might be of interest to you http://hometown.aol.com/clcw/index.html. It is a story of Sylivia, a dobie, that has Wobblers. They had real success with a neck wrap. Sylvia is wrapped in sheets of cotton from under the ears to the shoulders and than a layer of vet wrap holds it tight. The wrap is made quite snug and should be thick. The immediate effect is to stabalize the area but long term, the theory is similar to that of surgery, just more gradual and non-invasive route. The vertebrae is supported over a period of time, allowing the tendons and muscle to build up and support the vertebrae. If you can't find the site let me know and I will fax it to you. Also try www.chetbacon.com/wobblers.htm also http://personal.palouse.net/valeska/wobblers.htm. I have all of these articles if you need me to send them to you. Please keep us posted. Hugs to you and your baby.
