  1. Yes - I was fixing that when you posted. I thought it was Doolin..
  2. That's wun hansum dood! Sorry Willa. I missed the tag on this post and thought you were Doolin. Yoo look awesome!
  3. Apparently I was. My side of the bed has an extra piece of foam and she knows it.
  4. I had a rough night while trying to sleep last night and then an early work thing happened this morning (well, early by my standards...) It's a raining, cloudy, dark day here and other than F-35's going over the house doing training, a good afternoon for a nap. I had been in bed this afternoon for maybe 45 minutes and was just starting to fall into a decent sleep. Then I heard it - the sound. I only know one sound like that. Not an F-35. Not an F-16. Not a bird. Not a plane. It was....... Wait for it...... The sound of Snickers flying through the air to join me in bed. In less than a second I knew the sound of an airborne greyhound before the paws hit the bed. Next thought - I wonder what Snickers is doing here??? I never realized before that I know what it sounds like when Snickers flies through the air to jump in bed with me. Snickers was having a rough day. There was work going on at her house with banging on the roof and electricity going on and off making everything in the house beep etc. She needs an afternoon at Camp Greyhound. She whined a lot. She wasn't happy that I was napping. I got up. More F-35's went over. She went to the dark walk-in closet. A few minutes later I found out why she was really whining. She wanted my side of the bed. All is right with her world now. She is sleeping on my side of the bed listening to James Taylor on Pandora. The things we do.....
  5. She's hoping that you are making more slippers or socks that she can steal.
  6. Keeping attractive things off the counter is # 1. There is never a reason to swat, hit or "punish" a dog. They don't understand that. Training is key. Train the "Off" command when the dog counter surfs or goes for something they shouldn't. You can also train "drop it" or "leave it" when they pick up something they shouldn't. "Leave it" has worked well for all of our dogs and they will normally drop even high value items when we use that command.
  7. Yay Annie! LaVida says you can milk this for a couple days. Work the system, girl!
  8. Glad to hear your girl is doing much better. Keep us posted on her progress.
  9. I don't know where he learned it, but Rocket would actually step down off the walk to drop a load on the curb if there was no grass. We did not train for that. If traffic isn't an issue, can you redirect her to the curb?
  10. Good job, Wiki! LaVida does not like that thing either. Mark says it interrupts his all-day nap.
  11. Punkin is designing her next masterpiece based on this idea.
  12. The outside temp got up to about 70 yesterday in the sun, and upper 60's in the shade so I took LaVida's coat off of her. Last night as she was going to bed I held up the coat. She came running and stuck her head through to put it on. She's currently taking her after breakfast nap wearing her coat. She's a happy girl.
  13. Will you be building a tiny garage for the tiny house in time for next winter?
  14. A number of adoption groups hand out medical reference cards or provide them as a fundraiser to greyhound owners to use as a quick reference when talking with their vet. There's a sample of the card on this page. https://www.greyhoundhealthinitiative.org/ri_cards/ There are some members here who are involved with the cards through various groups so they will probably post additional details.
  15. Update: Day 3 We are still having very cold mornings here in the dezzert. North of us in the mountains they got between 2 and 3 feet of snow and we are getting all of the cold air off of that snow. LaVida has not let us take her housecoat off of her. We are going through the other coat we have to see if any of them fit her so we can eventually change her coat. We also found one of Rocket's coats that fits Mark. Mark says we were holding out on him since his idea of bliss is being able to wear his blanket 24/7. We so rarely need any kind of coat here that we had never tried the coats on these two. Mark says you can't see him in his "camelflaj." LaVida Day 3 - still rocking her housecoat and happy!
  16. Day 2 and she hasn't let us take it off of her. I think she's really liking her housecoat. I have to go through the other coats here and see if anyhting else fits her.
  17. Schools are rarely canceled but there is still a solid line of traffic going north on these snow days. The DOT pleads with people to stay off the roads until they can clear them but it doesn't do much good. This particular storm closed many miles of interstate in northern AZ for the past 24 hours. That was Petunia's coat which was sent to her by a good friend here on GT. Petunia refused to wear a coat from the first time we attempted to put it on her. . She was storm phobic but also refused to wear the thunder shirt. The thunder shirt stressed her out even worse than the storm. There are tons of flamingos mixed into that print along with the flowers. Miss Houndtime Irene made the housecoat. LaVida has yet to take it off. She is loving it. It depends, but in this case the morning was in the 40's and the air was that damp, raw kind of cold that goes right through you. After you've been here for a few years your body acclimates to the heat and you will be cold when the temps go much below 70. We see people wearing winter coats when temperatures are in the upper 60's. When we lived in the midwest a 50 degree winter day was a good excuse to wash the salt off the car wearing a T-shirt and no jacket. Here, we will be bundled up at the same temperature.
  18. Should I poo upon a stick? Should I poo real slow or quick? Should I squat down really low? Or should I poo upon the snow?
  19. There's a Dr. Seuss rhyme in here somewhere, but I'm sure those who are better at that than I am will chime in now that the idea has been planted.
  20. A rare coat and blanket day. (Yes, the heat is on too.) They are calling for 2 feet of snow in the mountains to our north so we are getting the cold air and dampness.
