  1. I am probably just an overprotective mommy but I want to be sure. Lucius is just slightly off. Nothing noticeable even to DF but I'm detecting some strangeness. He has some soft poop. Now, we have battled that off and on for months but he had just gotten back to normal poop about a month ago. His nose has been a little less wet and cold. He's been a little more affectionate than normal (something I notice because I am home with him now). He's still playing, running, sleeping. But he's just been...off. I haven't seen worms or eggs in his poop. He takes iverhart max so theoretically he shouldn't have any (it covers heartworms and common and potentially zoonotic roundworms, hookworms, and now, tapeworms.) He's eating well. But he has lost a little weight- maybe 1-2 lbs- (of course, it could be from the harder playing and running...in the apt he was rarely off leash because we had to go somewhere with a yard. Now he runs and plays daily). I think he has been a little colder since he wants his jammies on (that boy does love collars and leashes but not normally coats...but loves his jammies... a housecoat! ) He chattered when I put it on earlier. Am I being a paranoid overprotective mommy? Or could he be coming down with something?
  2. Where did you hear/see this? I know he's done the rollerblading thing (in several episodes) with other breeds or mixed breeds to get some of their pent-up energy released and give working dogs their "purpose" of pulling someone/something but... never seen him do this with greys. I like Cesar Millan. Just as with anyone else though, not everything he says/does is absolute to me, my dog or everyone else's dog. I never got the sense that he intended this, anyways. I think he has a great deal of expertise and wisdom -- if it's not for you and your dog, oh well. Plenty of other methods out there. I do not agree, in the least, with those who find his methods detrimental. I'm thinking he read "Be The Pack Leader." pages 148-149 in the hardcover. I had to read it for a training class. He specifically mentions rollerblading/biking with sighthounds. That's what I've cracked jokes from. Though, like I said, I'd love to see somebody do it. Would be really cool. I couldn't...lol...high, high, high prey galgo and high prey greys...and me not having greyt balance. *splat!* I have no problem with Cesar. I take many of his methods with a grain of salt until I can see the dogs he's worked with after the fact. A month, 5 months, a year, etc. I want to see that he has solved the problem and not just masked it for tv or gave it a temporary fix. He has encouraged excercise, affection, training but I don't think all his methods would work on all dogs. JMHO.
  3. You have GOT to see gter Brindles rollerblade with her greys!! Oh....I want to! (I've cracked that joke before too but I always wanted to see somebody who does)
  4. Thank you so much General Kiwi and Josie. That means a lot to me, truly. Thank you.
  5. My Galgo, Argos, refuses to go out in the rain too!! You have to carry him out to potty if it rains all day. I'm glad Zuki has made such strides. I think Argos, as well as he's been doing, has quite a ways to go...but he also has a deep soul and is so greatful fr every thing...so rewarding.
  6. Thank you!! That means a lot to me.
  7. Thank you everyone. Your kind, caring responses have helped me in ways you may never know. Thank you all.
  8. Thank you everybody. I needed to read these before I made the call to my dad...he loves that little bird and was coming to see her (and me) for Christmas...
  9. I don't have the words right now...I can't comprehend this. I can't believe Cordelia is gone. My best friend through a near fatal bout with anorexia, my only companion after getting stood up at the alter, the reason I work parrot rescue, the mascot for our pirate relay for life team and my first pet on my own. I will write more when I can. It was sudden and unexpected and could not have been prevented. My heart hurts so much...I want you home with me Cordy! I sum Cordelia up in a little stor I read years ago when I first got her. No words can ring more true. "Just a bird" From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a bird," or, "that's a lot of money for just a bird." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a bird." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a bird." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a bird," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a bird," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a bird" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a bird," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "just a bird" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "just a bird" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a bird" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a bird" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a bird" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a bird" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a human." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a bird." just smile, because they "just don't understand."
  10. Same here, not even a clue but am grateful! Exactly. Don't get the technical stuff but I imagine it's time consuming and not fun. Thank ou so much for all you do!
  11. Run free sweet Lucy. There are many galgos to run with at the bridge. You can tell them stories of how wonderful life can be. RIP sweet girl.
  12. Argos was microchipped in Spain and we had to get him re-microchipped here because the readers here don't read foreign ones so you'll have to re-microchip in the other country most likely to stay chipped.
  13. I use it and it's worked well for us thus far.
  14. She is beautiful!!!! The only time I've heard that name was in the movie "Wild Hearts Can't be Broken." It was based off the true story of Sonora Webster-Carter who rode the high diving horses. Beautiful movie. Beautiful name.
  15. ...and to think...we let them kiss us and snuggle with them...
