  1. Bird food can too...my friend owns a parrot rescue that I work with and has standard poodles. One of her poodles got into the pelleted food and got really sick. He was rushed to the vet but it did some damage to him. Poor boy did horrible and then well... My boys will try to scavange in our bird room...but I watch them like hawks.
  2. My grey boys do it when they are excited or happy. My galgo doesn't do it. It's adorable!
  3. Yay Naples!!! (Sorry Manero's eye...) but so glad she's doing better!!!!
  4. There are no other rooms in your house where you can keep the bird? Please don't rehome your bird just to get a Greyhound. I kept my 3 birds and 3 hounds in a one bedroom apt successfully. Since you are new and can't PM yet e-mail me at shannon.m.sisler @ gmail.com and I can give you loads of advice. One of my hounds (my Galgo, Argos)was a hunting dog in Spain and we've even worked with that...and he catches birds outside with ease and glee but never bothers mine inside. It's never a good thing to get rid of one pet just to get another unless you have tried everything that you could and tested it first. JMHO. There are many people on this site that has birds and hounds with no issue. Sure, things will change, but that's not so bad.
  5. My three are all like that...every day. I have no answer for you. I just though greyhounds and galgos were like that. ETA because I wrote bo and not no...lol
  6. Welcome from SC. I have 3 birds...2 of them cockatiels. They used to have much more free roam of the house (supervised) but since the dogs came they have been limited. They now have their own room that is dog free. Before their own room I would get them out after I kid gated or crated the dogs for a bit with a kong or yummy treat. I have a Galgo in the house...we are super cautious! (always cautious before but now we have a hunter interrested in them...) My greys are not interrested in them but you never know when the winds can shift and your guard is down. Please do not rehome your bird. It would be very sad to get rid of one pet just to get another. IMHO. I've worked at a parrot rescue for years...it happens too often and almost always unnecessarily Good luck with your adoption.
  7. Welcome from SC!!! What was Prop 2??
  8. Don't think the worst! My boys all limp at some point after long excercise even though they won't do it everythime. He could have cut a paw, strained a musicle, anything. So don't think the worst and worry yoirself. And let us know what the vet says.
  9. I knew there was a 3 year rabies but did not know about 3 year distemper. I know there is a 1 year bordatella and a 6 month....and a kennel would not take my Dal's 1 year one. Call the vet clinic that did her first shots and make sure what they have.
  10. once a month. I use 3/4 of a vial on each of my 80 and 75 lb boys, and split a vial on my other 3. 1 box a month for 4 dogs.
  11. I use the 89+ pound one and split it between 4 dogs...80 lb boy, 75 lb boy, 55 lb boy and a 57 lb girl.
  12. It's good to know a group uses them for fosters. It has been a recurring problem. He's now been to 2 diff vets...been treated 4 times.... It upsets me. I mean, he has no fleas...I check him over every night. Poor baby! Hoping this works.....*crosses fingers*
  13. ...this morning Argos feared grass because it moved, an ice cream truck sounds sent him into shivers and shakes...a spanish voice on the tv had him so tightly melted into the corner that I had to extract him and do a lil doggie massage on him and sing badly to him...and a yorkie walking in front of our fence had him crying and scratching to get inside...but Galgos have a much crappier, tough life than most greys so I would imagine many more Galgos are spooky. We just love on him, show him it's ok, and hope someday the outside world is a bright, happy, cheerful place like inside home is for him. (Lucius tried to open the gate t get said Yorkie...yay for locks! )
  14. Not to hijack...but I love your siggie!!!! Back to our regularly scheduled poop talk.
  15. What a cutie!!!!! Congrats!!! Argos still barks at mirrors....3 weeks later!!
  16. You know, I saw Spartanburg and said hey...do I know them?? Turns out it's you!! Welcome Gina and my pup pals Nash and Lindy. (sure hope you're feeling better!)
  17. I've been told that soft but well formed is fine. Some dogs never get hard stool. NOt sure if it's true, but I've had a vet tell me that... OUt of my 4...2 are hard stool and 2 ae soft but well formed....all are healthy.
  18. Yay! This is good. (and greyt since it's cheaper than INterceptor...and I'm up to 4 dogs...)
  19. Hmmm...I really should have asked her why. I just kept them on interceptor and didn't think about it. cool...thanks.
