  1. I am so very sorry to hear this. You and Misty will be in our thoughts and prayers. The greatest gift is the hardest to give.
  2. I am so very sorry. She looks and sounds like such a special soul. May your memories bring you comfort.
  3. You and Willie are in my thoughts. Wishing you peace and comfort tomorrow.
  4. Welcome aboard and congratulations on your new addition! For backyard issues, maybe you could leash her and walk her around the yard so she can check it out with you! My first grey came in the house and said hello. That caused him to need a nap and he has been sleeping ever since! We have had him for 4.5 years now. He is almost 9. Our 3rd, is 2 years old and still thinks he is a puppy. Tons more energy there! Makes the house "interesting." Would love to see a picture of your sweetie!
  5. We had a close encounter with tapes before, too. Really, really nasty. Did you dose him with something or did it voluntarily make an appearance on its own? Tapes are very segmented and it when they shed segments, it looks like grains of rice in their poop. Good luck! They are really easy to get rid of though.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I understand the comment about your teenagers feeling jealous! My DH has accused me of loving the pups more than him. May your precious memories of your beautiful Alan bring you peace and comfort.
  7. I just had my almost 9 YO in to the vet for a lump that had been there and had gotten bigger. The vet checked him out, aspirated it and it was a fatty deposit. He was actually surprised because there is no fat on that boy! It is squishy and I did find relief knowing that it was benign. He also has a cyst-like thing on his neck (I forget what it was called) that I had checked at the same time. Guess he is just becoming more of a "lump" on my couch than before! I do understand the dilemma though.
  8. I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful picture of a beautiful girl.

I am so very sorry. May your sweet memories bring you peace and comfort.
  10. Welcome! You are getting ready to embark on an entirely new journey! We live with 3 greyhounds, one whippet, four cats and other miscellaneous critters in tanks. Our first greyhound came to us straight from the racing kennel. He is actually our safest cat safe grey. I have pictures somewhere of one cat napping on Dante's head while both are lying in a sunbeam. Our second grey is more cat-tolerable. She knows better than to go after them, but doesn't want them near her space. She was the only one of the three that was fostered. Our newest grey is a lovable goofball and noticed the cats but didn't do anything about them. Our whippet is fine with "his" cats, but will go after any others he sees outside. Three of our current cats we have gotten as kittens after we have had at least one grey. They show no fear and have had to be trained to be respectful. Good luck with your new family member and remember our main rule around here - PICTURES!

  18. My whippet has those and the vet calls them hemangiomas. We just keep an eye on them and haven't had to remove any yet. Interesting to note, he is also white with black ticking and was a total sun bunny in his last several homes. I was told that they can be related to sun exposure. Not to frighten you, but he also had one that was removed and was a hemangiosarcoma. However, this was before he ended up in our house, so I have no idea what that one looked like. All I know is that the vet doesn't seem concerned. He has one on the inside of each back thigh and one on the end of his "hoo hoo" - that one allows him to pee around corners!
  19. I have a whippet with a "drinking problem," too! All his tests have been completely normal and my vet is even jealous of some of his blood chemistries. It has been determined/decided that it is in his head. He goes through period of heavy drinking and then it evens out. His last episode has lasted for several months. We are keeping an eye out trying to see if we can find a link between environmental and seasonal stressors or something. So far, haven't come up with anything, but we are still looking! We do not withhold water because all the dogs and cats drink from the same bowl (their choice). With his other life issues, we just belly band him when we are going to be gone for several hours or in the late afternoon - his favorite time to pee on the carpet. I wish you much luck and if you are like me, it is comforting (in a twisted way) to know that there are other dogs out there with this same condition. Cindy
  20. I am so very sorry. As others have said, only you know your pupper best and will put her best interests above your own. We will keep you and yours in our thoughts.

  22. our thoughts are with Clark, you and yours today.
  23. I am sorry that you lost your precious pup. I remember when you posted about her earlier. I, too, cannot imagine being in a home without a greyhound and can understand your need. I do hope that GTers closer to you can help provide you with possible solutions in obtaining a regular "fix!" Best wishes to you and good luck. Please keep us posted on how you are able to accomplish your goal, which in my opinion is a good one. Your success might also be useful to others at some point in their lives, too.
  24. I am so very sorry. The ultimate gift of love is the most painful to give. May your memories bring comfort.
