  1. To a lady who had a life well-lived. I am so sorry. I have also always enjoyed your blog and your tribute there was lovely, too. Rest well, Lilac.
  2. I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Gee.
  3. I, too, was dismayed when I found out the high rate of cancer with these dogs. However, does that mean that I will never adopt another retired racer? No. It means that I try to live life with them as they do - live each day for itself and care for them to the best of my ability. I have decided that this statistic is almost another reason to keep adopting them. Provide these wonderful animals with comforts and love and if they are in the unlucky camp, they have known the couch! My son was also diagnosed with cancer at age 12. That sucked big time. I am thankful and fortunate that he is alive today at age 20, but not without permanent deficits (and benefits) from his ordeal. He didn't "do" anything that could cause him to get cancer and it isn't in the family. Such a touchy subject.
  4. I am so very, very sorry. This is not what I was looking for. What a cruddy week this has been.
  5. It was an honor and pleasure to serve you, Kaptin Dood. Your minions here on earth will keep your legacy alive and well. Until we meet again. Lader Cindy with Goose, Maverick, Dante, Zoe and Indy
  6. If I go there for a shot or to run a test or something like that, I pay for the vaccine or the test. We don't even see the vet. No visit charge. The office charge is 50.00, too. In your situation, I doubt if I would have been charged the second time and definitely not for the booster appointment.

The bond the three of you shared is evident in your beautiful and loving tribute. My heart hurts for you. Thank you for giving him the best months of his life. He knew love.
  8. Oh no. I was hoping that it was something else. I am so sorry. Hugs to you and your son. I had to explain that to my daughter when she was 3, but 5 understands a lot more. Let him take the conversation where it needs to go.
  9. My almost 15 year old whippet suffers from occasional muscle spasms/leg cramps. He has been seen by the vet for this. They recommended enzymes to help, but not a specific product. He won't eat bananas. He does drink a good amount, but won't if something has been added to the water. His tongue is half paralyzed (will only move out of one side of his mouth) so feeding can be an issue. Does anyone have any suggestions? He has enough issues without having this, too! My poor little Boo. Thanks.
  10. I live on the other side of Leesburg and have had this weather, too. My 11 YO is more gimpy than usual, too, as is my 14.5 YO whippet. I have my older guys on a joint supplement, too, but it just doesn't cut it on days like these. Cool, damp weather does not bode well with older dogs! Please let us know how her vet appointment goes.
  11. Fear not - how could anyone who has had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Bee Wiseman and her loyal subjects ever forget? I am so very sorry. Your tribute was as beautiful as your girl. Cindy
  12. My heart breaks with yours, Chris and Dennis. Run free, sweetie. Cindy
  13. I am so sorry. She knew she was loved.
  14. I have an IBD dog and he gets raw venison, as do my others. I do freeze it first for a couple weeks, just to be safe. He doesn't get as much because it can loosen him up - it is rich. They love it and I have never had any issues from it. Even my cats will eat it! We have an over abundance of deer around here and my neighbor hunts for the meat. He usually saves me the thighs. I can get 40 pounds easy that way and they enjoy it for quite a while. Nothing like free food!
  15. What a handsome hound! I am so very sorry.

    Bree...

I am so very sorry. I am so glad that you did get a kiss from her. She was loved and knew it.
  17. Your son's dream broke my heart and I hope that it made him feel a little better. I am so very sorry for your loss.
  18. I am in total shock. I am so very sorry. Hugs Cindy
  19. I am so very sorry. She is beautiful.
  20. Oh no, I am so very sorry. She is beautiful. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  21. Zoe is my chatterbox. She communicates quite loudly at times. My whippet is almost 15 and very hard of hearing. I only have to ask Zoe to "call Indy" and she usually starts barking, which is a sound that he can hear (and so can the neighbors). He will come to me then. It does have its advantages!
  22. That face in the last picture moved me to tears. I am so very sorry. You both were blessed.
  23. I am so sorry. You both fought so hard. Rest peacefully, Trav and send your Mom a sign.
  24. I am so very sorry. As others have written before, you took Baker's pain and made it your own. That is one of the biggest gifts that we can give our beloved dogs. Over time, may you feel comfort and peace.
  25. What a cutie! I am so sorry that it was her time.
