  1. Check under the pharmacy label--often the manufacturers expiration date is later than the pharmacy date.
  2. Poor baby. If it won't upset her stomach, some canned dog food might cheer her up.
  3. Chances are, it's nothing, but if you're anything like I am you'll feel better with a quick vet check
  4. Vet wrap is a good idea, the only thing that ever has worked for me is a lightweight snood over the bandaging.
  5. Perhaps what others are objecting to (myself included) is the notion that we have made the decision to use tramadol lightly--I think most people have considered the other options, perhaps even tried many of them (I know I did) before moving to tramadol. Some of us have serious concerns about the long-term use of certain other medications that influenced are choices. I know I give Patrick a fairly high dose, but we began using a low dose and gradually increased it until he seemed to be getting adequate pain relief. No one wants their babies to experience unnecessary pain OR unnecessary side effects, but it is a balancing act that I trust we all take seriously.
  6. I haven't noticed any side effects at 200mg/day, but it is certainly possible--I belief it is a mild opiate.
  7. Patrick has been using tramadol now for (I think) about a year with no problems, good results, and are vet feels very little long term risk. I think I pay about $8 for a month's supply (at 200mg/day) at Target.
  8. Office visit charge every time here, and for every animal (except for the bordatella shot, for some reason). I figure I usually end up with enough questions that it's fair enough.
  9. I'd call the manufacturer to see what kind of wax they are. But probably no harm done, except maybe in the poop department.
  10. Fingers and paws crossed that the results turn out to be a fluke.
  11. What a beautiful tribute to a special soul, even here, from a distance, I can always see how loving your family is, and how much each individual member is loved and respected--I know that death will not break such strong bonds of love.
  12. No problem here, for what it's worth I use cosequine. I know it's a nuciance, but maybe the poorer poop quality is worth it if the dog is overall more comfortable?
  13. Great list, I also keep baby and toddler socks, for covering bandaged wounds, and latex gloves in case I end up assisting a person. Thanks to whoever suggested the shot record--that something I really need to get a copy of and keep in my car, just in case. I should probably give one to the petsitter as well.
  14. I'm so sorry. Godspeed little Cody Angelo, you were loved by so many.
  15. I'm so sorry. I know however much time Cody Angelo has he will enjoy it to the fullest with you.
  16. Sounds like something I'd have a vet look at, just in case, since it's a puncture wound and it's weeping.
  17. Sending good thoughts for Cody Angelo and his family.
  18. Poor baby The taste of the tramadol can make them sick too, try putting it in a gel-capsule if you have one, or at least in something yummy.
  19. Poor guy, I'm glad he's doing okay. As for the bill, imo the other owner should have offered to pay right away--it's not like they were playing and it was an accident, but I don't know that it's worth pushing--up to you.
  20. Glad everything went well--Max tell your momma to baby you for a couple days
  21. I'd try adding something yummy, like a little yogurt. If he goes back to eating, he probably doesn't like the new formula or is bored with the food.
  22. Patrick's isn't visible, but it feels sort of squishy, and is very moveable, it doesn't feel attached to the underlying tissue. Hoping for a good report from the vet.
  23. I'm assuming the vet biopsied the first lump between the toes? Do you know the results--I would base my decision someone on what those said. I agree about limiting anesthesia (and foot surgery--it's hard to get them to heal) if possible.
  24. Sounds like she'll be fine, funny the things they manage to get into!
