  1. What a little sweetie pie Good thoughts continue for surgery....
  2. I can't believe he's 13 either --sending good thoughts and hugs for Sprout (and the nervous rest of the family.)
  3. If you do vinegar, Ideally do it on a hot dry day, so the grass will soak up more of it. If household vinegar doesn't work, there's also gardening strength stuff that should work. The black plastic works well too, and the heat from it if done in the summer will actually kill a number of the weed seeds as well.
  4. :lol I can laugh at you because when I first adopted I took Patrick in because I thought he had an infection (discharge) and got a very nice lecture about how "when a boy dog sees a girl dog that looks fun..." he can still get excited even though he's neutured!
  5. Theoretically, 2x a year for wellness visits, in reality it probably ends up being in the 8-10 range (several are usual followup visits from the inevitable feet related injuries.)
  6. If it were my dog, I'd take him in for any injury severe enough to require Rimadyl--I don't like to give pain killers without knowing what's going on.
  7. Isn't that the truth--I always say I wish I could see the vet instead of human doctors, I trust her much more!
  8. I'm crying with you--I'm so sorry. Godspeed little one

    Arnold

Arnold, when I saw you on Petfinder, with your brother Charlie I wasn't even supposed to be looking. I had just lost little Arnold, but your name seemed like a sign. When DH and I picked you up from the lady at the guinea pig rescue, you snuggled right into your carrier and discovered hay for the first time--you were in heaven! It was the beginning of your love affair with all things edible. You were always my timid piggy--shy and frightened, but you knew that in our home you were loved very much and you quickly came to enjoy snuggling with mommy, scurrying around for food, and stealing Gretta's cage whenever you could. We miss you very much, but we're both glad you went so peacefully, in your sleep. I'm just sorry you little ones aren't given more time here with us. Godspeed little one. If folks could send some good thoughts for Charlie, his brother, I'd appreciate it. He seems to be doing okay, but I am worried about him.
  13. I voted other--Patrick has a thyroid disorder, but it's well in hand, so I don't really think of it as him having an ongoing problem.
  14. Godspeed Larry, you are loved. Dan, I'm so sorry for your loss.
  15. That was so lovely of Jessie to send you the rainbow.
  16. What a horrible tragedy, the poor family. Godspeed little one.
  17. It so depends. My first guinea pig, Arnold needed surgery that cost around $600--at the time, DH was temping (I'm in graduate school) and the money was really tight. But the surgery, if he made it through, was guaranteed to fix the problem, so we did it and I never regretted it, even though the money we spent had been set aside for some medical testing I needed. Now, I'm facing the loss of another guinea pig, Jake, we could do surgery, probably around the same price, but it wouldn't by any means guarantee a solution to the problem, and I'm not at all sure he's strong enough to make it through. So even though the money isn't an issue (DH now has a real job), we're not going to do it, instead we're keeping him comfortable. So money might be part of the decision, but it's only part, and I don't know that I can say that I would spend X amount, and no more--every situation is so different.
  18. Lady Sophia, we all miss you, but we're doing our best to take care of your mom for you. Run free sweetie, and enjoy your reading.
