  1. She sounds like she'll be okay--poop is always clear.
  2. Thyroid issues can cause excessive drinking themselves, never heard of the medicine causing it. Be careful if using something other than Soloxine that they don't change the generic type on you--that tends to really mess Patrick up.
  3. Thyroid meds here, so once the levels evened out once a year (assuming no problems.)
  4. Can't hurt to try-benedryl is usually dosed at 1mg/lb in dogs. My mom's last dog took it daily for years (poor guy was allergic to grass, among other things.)
  5. Poor baby, you do look very pathetic. I bet your mommy feeds you something extra special once you can eat.
  6. Glad to hear he did so well, what a sweet boy you have
  7. Poor baby, at least he's got a nice mommy who is taking very good care of him.
  8. Use a low glass or cup and keep a towel handy, I usually manage to spill the salty water all over myself.
  9. I'm so sorry, poor Bueller and his worried parents. Sounds like you need to find a new e-vet if possible (or is that sort of thing standard at an e-vet?)
  10. Wow- I didn't realize it could be so frequently. I was aiming for getting it done once, practising "brushing" every day and then not having to get the full dental again. Silly me. Well, if you use an enzyme toothbrush and are faithful about brushing daily (something I admit I'm not), you can probably get away with less than yearly, but I doubt you won't have to do it again. That said, every dog is different.
  11. It depends, often yearly.
  12. I think it differs dog to dog, Patrick has never needed antibiotics, but he absolutely flips out (dangerously) coming out of anesthesia; a small dose of a tranquilizer just before he comes out of it prevents it so the vet does that every time.
  13. Glad you found such an easy to fix problem Dremeling is def. the way to go.
  14. Glad you got some good news. Is his BP good? (I'm not sure what a dog's should be.)
  15. I pay about $500 (includes pre-dental checkup and bloodwork), no extractions.
  16. Glad she's getting good care, poor baby though. Prayers for a quick recovery and a calm mom.
  17. Patrick had a cyst there, not infected though. We ended up having to have it removed because it kept flaring up and hurting him.
  18. How long till the next dental anyway? If it's benign I'd probably wait rather than put him under twice, or at least move up the dental.
  19. Don't know, but I'll pray for her--let us know what the evet says.
  20. I do--my vet sees several cases of lyme around here a year. I don't know that it's the right choice, but Patrick's never reacted to it. I hate these decisions
  21. I've lost pets (not dogs) both ways, and for me it's been easier when they've just passed on in their sleep. I might feel very different if I had needed to euthanize a pet in an emergency type situation--I would guess that would be the hardest way.
  22. Patrick seems to need a cleaning yearly, no matter what I do, but fortunately no extractions and he's nine. I pay for a year's worth of routine vet care and meds all at once (saves 10%) and it's $1000, I'm can't remember how much of that is for the dental--maybe half if you include the blood-work ahead of time?
  23. In part, because I'm not perfect about remembering the dosing (bad mommy, I know). And even if I was, I'd probably check just in case, because I'm a nervous nelly about the animals.
  24. I have looked into it, and haven't personally felt comfortable with online ordering. What has helped is ordering regular prescriptions (like thyroid medicine) a year at a time--my vet is able to get a really good rate and passes much of the savings on to me. Also, for drugs that are also used in humans, Target and Walmart are often much cheaper than the vet's office.
  25. How long as she been on it? That could help rule out allergy.
