  1. So glad to hear that Stepper is doing well... I had to do a double take when I saw the siggie and the new name I like the new one.
  2. Wow Kate... so sorry that you are going through so much! Good Luck to Takoda and you.
  3. Do you mean months or were you meaning to say weeks?
  4. Who and where do you get the glucosamine, MSM and shark cartilage from? Also how much do you give him?
  5. She puts all weight on it. The foster said that she was holding it up at times but I haven't seen her do it at all. She even has tried to run up and down the stairs. I have stopped her from doing it by holding her collar going both ways. Thanks for the advice... I have never felt so unsure before. I have had all kinds of dogs in my life but have never had one that had any injury.
  6. Ok, I went and pulled her paperwork. She had a comminuted right central tarsal fracture with a fourth tarsal bone fracture as well. She has two screws that were placed. The report says restricted activity for 8 weeks. Madi was in a foster home and was crated and leash walked. I'm fine with doing what ever is needed to be done. Like I said, I just feel so nervous about anything she does. I've never felt this way before and just feel like maybe I am "overprotecting" her. Or maybe that I am restricting her too much. I know she wants to play with the other girls outside and I haven't let her. She tries to initiate play with Carmen and I have stopped her. I will give them a call as well. Dr. Lange did the surgery at DVSC. Thanks
  7. My new girl Madi is almost 2. She broke her right rear hock in November and it was repaired on Nov. 22. She had her last bandage change in the middle of January. I feel like I am walking on egg shells around her. I am always so scared when the other dogs start dancing around her. Is this normal? Should I be this worried? How long should I "protect" her and keep her from running around. I have seen that she doesn't have a lot of muscle tone on her right side. I am walking her around the neighborhood hoping to help her build that up. I have only had her for 4 days now but am just wondering about all the "what ifs". Here is a gratuitous picture of her Just because...
  8. Oh Lin, I am so very, very sorry. I remember you telling me about your girl and how you thought Isis looked like her. I will be thinking of you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Hope I am so sorry. I know how excited you were to bring him home. He knew love, he knew yours and Sarahs love.
  10. Oh Lin - I will be thinking of your girl today. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
  11. She is gorgeous! Welcome from us in Plano, Texas. I love the Santa Fe area, my father lives in Espanola and raises Morgan horses.
  12. I'm surprised that the vet didn't want to stitch it back if it was hanging off? But a picture would definately help us to understand what it is. I would say if it is just a small flap then it is ok to lay it closed.
  13. I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are doing well. You have been such a great friend to me and I hope that you know how much I appreciate it.
  14. My older lab had some of those. They were fatty growths. Sometimes they filled with fluid and would rupture then heal on their own and other times they would dry up and turn black or scabby and fall off. My vet was never worried about them either. The lab lived to be 13... just had a lot of fatty tumors.
  15. Lin! I am so sorry, I will keep you in my thoughts. Hope to see you both soon.
  16. Well, I remember when you first came on for information but Welcome again from Plano Texas! Farrah is a cutie. In agility it is common to find whippet mixes. I have seen other whippet/border collie mixes and also whippet/JRT mixes. Good Luck to you!
  17. It is a bit greasy... if you have slick floors you'll want to put booties on her.
  18. It's so funny to see that she has FULL siblings born two years apart! I'd love to see pics if you have them...
  19. CTW Legally Wed Thanks everyone! I am so very excited and can't wait for her to be here.
  20. .... MAUDIE!! (soon to be Madi ) I saw Maudie on the GALT website in the middle of December. I fell in love... then, someone posted her info here on GT and I panicked. I couldn't let someone else get MY girl I applied for her in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve. It took a few days and in between I had looked at a few other dogs that really appealed to me. There was a shy, male that I really wanted to bring home but he ended up going to another group and then I started thinking about a puppy Well, I finally got the call that I was approved and that I could bring her home after her last bandage change and spay. Her last bandage change was on Monday, the 19th and she looks great! Her spay was today and she sailed right through. The foster is going to keep her during her healing and bring her to my house on Feb. 5th!!! I am soo excited to have this girl come home with me, Isis, and Carmen. The foster mom is going to bring her over to the house this Sunday and introduce Carmen and Isis to her. She is a shy, quiet girl. When she is nervous she tucks her tail all the way between her legs and can almost lay it flat against her tummy. She really doesn't have a crook in it Last week I took my kiddos to meet her at the foster home and we ended up there for two hours! She is smaller than Isis, probably around 50#. Isis is only 58#. So, more pictures to come
