  1. How terrible. I'm so sorry to hear about Roo.
  2. I agree with Donna. Sahara is six, and she hasn't had a dental since we adopted her (nearly 3 years). I would wait until it is needed.
  3. I'm so sorry. I always loved seeing pictures and hearing stories about Alan, as he is Sahara's uncle and looked just like her.
  4. Coltrane has rather dilute urine, and the protein levels in his urine were too high when he first was returned to the kennel. He also has high blood pressure, which is controlled with Enalapril. On the Enalapril and prescription K/D food, he is healthy. The vet believes his dilute urine may be due to compulsive drinking. Good luck finding the solution for Nellie!
  5. Coltrane dislocated his toe last month. It was a little swollen, and we took him to the vet as he wasn't putting any weight on that leg. The toe wasn't sticking out funny at all. The vet popped it back in and we left it wrapped for a week. He's dislocated it once since then, and I popped it back in myself. Good luck! ETA: Coltrane cried out when we manipulated his foot before we taking him to the vet. He is usually very quiet.
  6. I'm sorry. Its hard to tell, but it looks like bruising or abrasions. Did her toe turn out okay?
  7. Which leg did he have the Achilles tendon surgery on? Does he have any hardware left in his leg from that operation? Hopefully he will feel a bit happier once the bandage is off his front foot.
  8. Were his nails longer when you picked him up? I wonder if they twisted due to hitting the ground when he walked. Let us know what you find out.
  9. Argos looks quite happy with her. Congratulations!
  10. Welcome! Draft is very cute. My husband is from Casper, WY, and I don't think he ever saw a greyhound there!
  11. Sahara is at the vet's office today because of the same symptoms, though it sounds like Frankie is going a bit more often. Here's hoping they both have easy to treat UTIs!

    Miles...

I'm sorry to hear about Miles. He looked very happy in the picture in your post.
  13. I'm sorry you had Schumi for such a short amount of time. You could see in his pictures how content he was with you.
  14. I hope Dusty comes through his surgery with flying colors! The dog we had when I was growing up developed a wart on the underside of his eyelid. It sounds like Dusty's may be similar. I remember that the vet said he would cut a triangle of the eyelid out and sew remaining sides together. Rusty recovered quickly and had no further problems.
  15. I am so sorry to hear about Will. He was one of the nicest dogs I've met.
  16. That is just terrible. I hope they catch the guy who did it.
  17. Good luck picking out a new hound! One good place to look for a crate is on Craigslist. If none are advertised as available in the Triangle, you could post the dimensions, etc. on the type you would like to buy. It may not work, but it could also save you some money. I think the possessiveness regarding a crate may relate more to invading a dog's space while they are in one, not to the smells already on it. Oh yes, I also wanted to say that Sahara likes to sniff constantly when we are on walks. Once we were at the park, and she was walking with her nose down on the ground to catch all the smells. A lady asked me if she was a dog. I said she was a greyhound, and the woman said she'd never seen a greyhound that looked like that before. I think maybe the woman thought that Sahara couldn't lift her head up straight. Maybe Sahara's just one of the goofy greyhounds that thinks she's a beagle!
  18. Thank you for caring for Monty. I am sorry he was with you such a short amount of time.
  19. How sad for Blue and his family. He was a nice dog.
  20. Hi Traci, Congratulations on adopting Stormy! He is a sweet, sweet dog.
  21. Sahara puts her claws out when she panics on slick floors. It of course makes her slip and she starts to scramble/panic more. The only advice I have is to trim his nails very short, and try to get him used to the floors. If he is food oriented, see if he will follow a treat onto the wood floors. If he is focused on the food, he may not care as much about the floors. Sahara is much better now than when we adopted her 1.5 years ago, but she still has moments where she gets scared.

    Bill The Cat

I'm sorry to read about Bill. Your signature picture with him, your grey and your baby is one of my favorites.
  23. I hope poor Monty feels better soon! He sure has been through a lot medically.
  24. Nyla looks a lot like my Sahara. Your girls were very pretty.
  25. I'm sorry you had such a short amount of time with her. She looked very sweet in her pictures.
