  1. Oh, Irene, I'm so sorry Melissa lost her sweet T-cup.
  2. Your tribute was truly beautiful. The love you shared shines through in every word, and it's easy to see what a wonderful dog he was, and why you loved him deeply. You grew and changed so much together, and he was your constant. I can't imagine how much you must miss him. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Milky Way.
  3. Osteo is such a monster. It's heartbreaking that it stole your sweet boy from you at only 8 years. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Cal.
  4. My gosh, he was stunning! The steps will be an issue that I dread as well. It must have broken your heart to know that his poor body wouldn't let him do what brought him the most happiness. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Frisby.
  5. Oh, Soren, no wonder you're missing your sweet, smiley heart dog so much! I'm so sorry you lost your precious Aleeya.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions! They all make sense, and I'm going to try something that will be dryer on the foot---and maybe discontinue the meds, since it doesn't seem to be helping, and I'm thinking I don't want to take any chances that it might not be good for her. Allergies or fungus could be possibilities too. We're leaving for GIG on Thursday, but if it doesn't clear up, I'm going to take her back to the vet.
  7. My sweet Polly has stuff going on periodically, parts of her body that get sore and then clear up. She's been treated in the past with cephalexin (sp?) and it's cleared it up. So her foot has been sore and raw between the pads and she licks it, and makes it worse. The vet put her on the same antibiotic, but this time, it really upset her stomach. She threw up, and then didn't eat the next day. I took that back, and the vet gave her Trimeth-sulfa. I don't think we've had that before, and I don't think it's helping. If we bandage the foot to keep her from licking, it doesn't stay on very long. Yesterday, I put Calvin's Therapaw on for a while to keep her from licking, and when we took it off, the foot was still sore. I think I shouldn't have done this. Maybe it made it moist, and it's not healing. I don't know what to put on it that would help, or if we should see about another med.
  8. Oh, Deb, that was such a wonderful tribute! How you loved her, and understood her---and indulged her, as she deserved. What a unique and special lady she was. Though your time together was too short, she was exactly where she was meant to be. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Sadie.
  9. You know him so well, and know when it is time. He is clearly telling you. Such a heartbreaking decision, but one made from love.
  10. The same thing happens to Lydia! Unfortunately, a couple times. Once at the dog park, we were the lucky ones with the bleeding hound too. We do the same thing you are doing, for a few days. I'd love to get the darn thing removed, but at 12 1/2, I'm not going to anesthetize her for that. Now I was just looking at it this morning, and it hasn't reappeared---yet? Or could it be that maybe it won't?
  11. Thank-you for letting this wonderful old gentleman spend his senior years in a home where he was so loved and cherished. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Plummer.
  12. Your tribute was heartbreaking, but very beautiful because it showed so clearly how much he was loved. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Lucky.
  13. We actually bought a little fridge! Of course, it's more for beer and wine. It's going to make Grapehounds NY even more fun. We've been using canned cat food for pills, but some of these suggestions make sense. We'll poke 'em down if we have to, but with 6 pills a day, I could see why you'd want an alternative. I'm going to try bringing peanut butter to GIG. Polly is on antibiotics right now, and I can't remember if the Comfort Inn has fridges.
  14. I think I'm going to switch to Advantix too. I've been doing Frontline because at the shelter where I work, they will do an application for $5! But last week, my vet suggested Advantix, or at least alternating. She gave me a price of $81 for 8 applications---if you buy 6, you get 2 free. I think that's pretty good for someone with 4 dogs.
  15. So many of us are sharing your sadness, and are heartbroken for you. You and your brave boy fought so hard, and he knew how very much he was loved.
  16. Calvin is sending lots of B9 thoughts out to his Mom, and thinking of her as he licks in stomach in solidarity. Seriously, I know it's scary. I'm sending good thoughts too, and hoping your sweet lady does well, and recovers quickly. Give her a hug, and please let us know how she's doing. P.S. What a gorgeous picture!
  17. Love the yawning pic! He appears to be moving right along in his recovery, and looks great. I think he has a fan club.
  18. I'm so sorry you and Remy have gotten this devastating diagnosis. So many of us understand how you are feeling now---I think it's the hardest time. You are constantly agonizing over the alternatives, and it really does consume your mind pretty much all the time. Please know that there is a lot of support here. And a lot of good info. I think in your heart you feel that he is not a good amp candidate, and you know him better than anyone. You can only do what you think is best for him. Neyla's Mom would be able to give you lots of valuable knowledge about what to consider if you don't go the amp route. And the osteo thread is not only informative, it can really help to know that you are not alone. Hugs to you and Remy. He has the dearest, sweetest face---easy to see why you love him so much.
  19. Thank-you for being the loving home that Plummer was meant to find.. I'm so sorry you lost your precious gentleman.
  20. Lucy, I am crying for you and for a beautiful little guy I never met. But I, like so many others, felt that I knew him. Thank-you for sharing him with us. I think sometimes a dog and an owner are meant to be together, and that is true of you and Jabari. How you loved him, and how you will miss him. I know that ache of not being with a heart dog to say good-bye. Please be gentle with yourself, and know that you were both so very blessed. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Jabari.
  21. Playbows and half snarks are great in this instance! It sounds like her recovery is progressing in a positive way, both physically and mentally. I just wish you didn't have to live near these lowlifes.
  22. We love good news! And I know you do too. Hang in there. We'll still keep your boy in our thoughts.
  23. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Jamaica.
  24. I've been sending out lots of good thoughts to you and Leah, and I'm glad to hear a positive update---please continue to let us know how she is doing. And it's good for you to vent too. Such a horrible experience for both of you. Gentle hugs to your sweet girl.
