macoduck
Awaiting delivery of Adequan vet ordered via Chewy. Have intramuscular needles/syringes on hand. I know the protocol is 2 injections per week for 4 weeks. No Rx med nor supplements have helped podenco Howie. Xrays show his elbows are bone on bone although other joints are okay. I forgot to ask vet this: Looks like it doesn't have to be refrigerated provided it's kept within a certain temp range in the house. Did you ever have to repeat that cycle and if so, for how long? Within months? A year? dante2zoe
Your vet is having you do IM injections? We have also found that subQ have worked well and is less painful for the dogs. Once we did the loading series, the injections are continued on a maintenance basis. That schedule depended on the dog. Fancy went from once a month, to every two weeks, and was on a weekly dose at the end. Our cat, Milo, gets a weekly injection. I hope it helps for him. I have had success more often than not, but it hasn't worked for all. macoduck
Thanks, Cindy. He did specify IM injections. I asked about "pinching" up some tissue and he said j, no just stick it in. I'll double check the package's instructions too. FiveRoooooers
Ducky, both Pal and Seamie had Adequan injections IM (no pinching, your doc is right) that I did at home. Pal didn't need any distractions during, and with Seamie I just opened the fridge and he poked around in there and we were done riteawayqwik. There is the loading dose and then maintenance depending on the dog, I think with my boys they were on a three- and four-week schedule, respectively. Howie Quote Old Dogs are the Best Dogs. BatterseaBrindl
Adequan is IM. Room temp. I just finished up with one of my horses. I'm sure your Vet will advise, but the Dosage for horses is every 4 days over a month (7 shots) It used to be you followed up with a monthly dose but - for horses - that has changed. We're to do another loading dose in 6-8 months. Quote Nancy...Mom to Sid (Peteles Tiger), Kibo (112 Carlota Galgos) and Joshi. macoduck
Has anyone found a lower price than Chewy? The 4 week dosing costs $155. Nancy, what was the dose for your horses?
