robinw
I live with a galgo who was badly abused in Spain; he was hanged and survived. Sometimes he will start to shake for no apparent reason, like when relaxing on my bed. It doesn't seem to be fear based, as his shaking is is "different" when he is scared. It isn't a little bit of shaking, rather very pronounced. It seems to be strongest in his upper and mid areas. Could it be possible that he suffered some kind of neurological damage caused by the hanging? If so, does anybody know what it might be? Should I take him to a specialist? Thanks Quote Xavi the galgo and Peter the cat. tbhounds
Have you ruled put the possibility of seizure? Think it would be odd that he exhibits these symptoms when at rest yet he has normal proprioception while walking etc.. I wouldn't hesitate to see out a neuro consult honestly just to rule things out (like seizures)--try to capture the activity on video. greysmom
Definitely video it if you can. It could be some sort of focal seizure, but that doesn't mean it's not related to any oxygen deprivation he might have suffered. A neuro consult wouldn't be out of line I would think. Has he always done this or is it something new you're noticing? Remolacha
I have no idea if it is possible, but given his background I think a check up with a specialist is a good idea. Poor boy, he is so lucky to have you now.

4My2Greys
As others have said video it if you can. I wonder too what other abuses he had to endure before he was hung that could also cause something like this. A neuro consult would definitely be a good idea. Iker and others like him are very blessed to have someone like you.

Batmom
Wouldn't hurt. Could be almost anything*** altho if he is 100% normal (no stiffness of gait, no odd behavior, etc.) right after the shaking stops, I think that limits the possibilities some. ***Almost anything: Frightening sounds you can't hear, neck/shoulder/back pain when in a particular position, seizure, momentary low blood pressure ...... robinw
He was a bit off for a day or so before this happened, and is a bit off today, but he is eating again. To be honest, I never paid much attention when this happened before as I just assumed that something was scaring him. Edited July 1, 2014 by robinw Quote Xavi the galgo and Peter the cat.
