Somehow he stepped in one of the many Holes ( He dug ) and sprained his left Hindleg Toes. It is swollen and of course I was thinking the worsed ... the Big OS. I treated it like a sprain, consulted a racing person and did what they suggested for a sprain. It didn't get better, though he was walking on it as often as not with an occasional hop. Turned out he'd not only broken that toe but shattered it and it had to be removed. I tell you this because sometimes a broken toe isn't that obvious. Jeffie's swelled quite a lot, but I couldn't feel any break and he let me feel it quite well. I thought it was just a ligament. If it doesn't get better in two or three days, I'd get it x-rayed.
