Guest greytkidsmom
Someone was kind enough to enquire how Kebo was doing after his surgery and I thought it might be time for an update. For those new to our story, Kebo was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma of the maxilla in February of this year. He had a partial maxillectomy at VA Tech but unfortunately they didn't get margins. He was referred to NC State where they did a more radical surgery to remove the front of his maxilla. They got clean margins and confirmed that it was fibrosarcoma (there was some question for a while whether or not it was melanoma). Since he has been home, we have gotten used to his abbreviated needle nose. We always know where he is because you can really hear him breathing. He has developed an amusing language of sniffs and snorts and has no trouble telling us what he is thinking. He is eating regular kibble and treats and is able to enjoy a Greenie now and then. The absorbable sutures they used are causing a little trouble - the knots work their way to the surface and break through the skin. We figure that eventually they will stop. Here are some pictures for you - a couple of him after surgery and one of him just recently lying on his favorite couch. We remain grateful to the support we got from GT, the recommendations from OSU, and the talented surgeons at NC State.
Guest FullMetalFrank
Oh, what a sweet, lovely boy! I am glad he's doing well. I know what you mean about the sutures, I had some trouble with the type they used on me when I had my hysterectomy a couple of years ago. But eventually they do go away. Kebo looks so comfy on that couch, a contented, happy boy!

Batmom
So glad he is doing well! Your handsome boy  . The absorbable sutures from Joseph's abdominal surgery did that, too. Fortunately they never seemed to bother him, just freaked me out before I knew what they were -- hope your experience is similar.
