He was fine when we woke up in the morning. By 1:30, he passed away. I don't know what happened. I really don't care. It won't bring him back. He turned 9 on Christmas Day. He was cheated. Anger at the unfairness of it is part of the natural healing process thatis Grieving, and next comes 'acceptance' which involves some rationalization as to the reasons why. Try to let yourself go freely with this, crying helps the process enormously. Unexpected deaths are every bit as troubling as those you get the time to plan for. Some of us ask the vet to do a necropsy to discover the reason, but I've only ever done this if I suspected something that may be important to other dogs.
