heartdogs Posted January 4, 2010 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Laura & I had to let Shorty go this morning. She was my SIL's first Corgi and would have turned 17 next Wed. In her younger days there wasn't a fence that could keep her in. She was a very good cow dog & even tried her hand at herding the sow when it got out on the pen. She grabbed hold of an ear & took Miss Piggy back to her pen. My Sheltie was her running buddy they had wonderful times together. As the greys started to come into Laura's house she took them under she wing & taught them all their house manners. There was only one dog that didn't like her & they had some terrible fights. Freckles was a Heeler/Aussie cross without any cow sense at all that decided she didn't like Shorty. This last weekend was a very good one as all the dogs got wonderful big bones from the butchers & yesterday was warm enough so they could sit in the front yard & chew as long as they wanted. This morning Jerry found Shorty spread eagle in their living room, he helped her get her legs under er but she kept falling over & her eyes were going in circles so he said it was time to let her go. Hard as is was to say good bye we know she had a very good long life so we just told her to run to the bridge & find all her friends that went before.
