Guest greytloves
Many greys on the track break legs without it being OS. She could have just had a freak accident in the yard. I know I did earlier in the year and snapped my leg in half. Doc said it was one chance in a hundred that I stepped on it just right. (or wrong in this case!) Hope she heals quickly! That deserves many extra cookies.

Saharasmom
Sahara broke a bone in and dislocated her front right wrist about 7 weeks ago. I had an x-ray consult with an orthopedic vet, who suggested splinting it for 6 weeks. Both my regular and the specialist vet said her wrist would fuse with or without surgery. We had to remove the splint after ~3.5 weeks, because it was rubbing her elbow too much. Now, she has about half the range of motion as before (not completely fused), but she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Hopefully Tippy have a similarly easy recovery. How did she break it? I guess I should clarify that when I say Tippy broke her leg it turns out it's really her left rear hock. I was not aware this was the case until I talked to a couple of people I am going to call the orthopedic surgeon in the morning and fingers crossed get in tomorrow for a consult. Guest Leah
Tippy had her apt today with the orthopedic surgeon and surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. The surgeon said she doesn't think this is a pathological break because of where it is and how it broke. Looking at the x-ray and with the reproduction bones it looks like maybe she got her foot stuck in a hole. Our yard is a huge mud puddle so anything could have happened. I am just so relieved it's not the dreaded c word. After losing Romeo earlier this year I don't think we could have handled it. Please keep our sweet girl in your thoughts tomorrow.
