The vet was afraid the azathioprine might be having an effect on bone marrow blood cell production (? I think that's what she said, just too much going on to keep straight), but labs showed her WBC count was 3X normal, so that's indicative of an infection. She was running a 104.6 fever. Guest Tenderhearts Posted September 9, 2009 Share Posted September 9, 2009 The vet called me at work this morning around 9 and says "I have a new dog for you." I'm just a little slow folks, and I'm thinking oh no we don't need another dog! Then I realized what she was saying, and I asked if Miss Wigglebutt was back again, and she said yes! Her IV was discontinued, so I went in to pick her up on my morning break. She was jumping around all over the waiting room waiting to go home. She's on Baytril, and the vet is adding a very low dose of pred to the azathioprine, 5 mg once a day for 10 days, and then we will cut back to 2.5 mg a day. I will take this good news with a lot of gratitude as things are still tough with Toby gone now. Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts!
