Guest GoJakeGo37 Posted August 30, 2009 Share Posted August 30, 2009 Good Morning, I posted something yesterday morning to ask others their greyhounds taking Deramaxx. Thank you for the advice. But it is with extreme sadness I have to report it wasn't the taking of this new drug to his system that caused restlessness and vomiting. It was paracaldial disease-fluid around his heart. The vet could have drained the fluid and it would have filled back up eventually. Jake was miserable and his body in distress. We couldn't see him suffer 5 minutes longer. It was heartbreaking. It all happened in less than 24 hours. My mom and I are dealing with the shock of the event. He's come through every sickness in the past but not this time. The house is a bit empty now but Jake is without pain. It was time. He would have been 12 years old in February. He had a rough begining...his mom wasn't a good mom and she chomped 1/2 of one of his ears off. He bounced around homes after the track. The last home he was in they took off his collar and threw him out of the house in Dec until animal control picked him up 3 weeks later. But we he got to our home, his forever home, I believe he was truly happy. He was such a good dog with a fantastic personality. He will be missed. When and if I ever adopt another dog again it will be a greyhound. Best Wishes to everyone. Please give your hound a big hug life is too short.
