UPDATE

We just got back from the vet, her platelet count is at 100 now, which is really good news! They still don't have any idea yet and we are anxiously awaiting on lab results that have been sent off. Kylie collapsed at the vet this morning. She had diarrhea and threw up a little over night. She doesn't seem to want to eat and has been panting a lot, I don't know what to think at this point. They are talking about a neurologist now..how far do I go here? I've accumulated a small debt so far, one that I don't have the money to cover. The funny thing is, I was just about to get insurance on her the night before and the next morning she's down.

They gave her even more meds, one to coat her tummy prior to the doxy and one for diarrhea.I bought some baby food meat and cottage cheese which I will give her right after her other meds. The vet will call me this afternoon after she consults with the neurologist and gets an opinion...I'll pass that info on. Has anyone ever had anything like this before? I'm a basket case here and cry at the drop of a hat...

Have you emailed Dr. Couto and his team yet? He responded so quickly when I asked for advice about Naz and his tumor the first time around...

Doxy can upset the stomach. Good news is that her platelets are on the upswing! Is she on pred too?

Which med did they give you? Carafate or sulcrafate?

Annie just finished 8 weeks of doxy. We ended up feeding her EVO canned (and kibble) and fried turkey and hand fed her. She got, in addition to the doxy, carafate, Quiet Digestion (a chinese herbal med) and zantac and milk thistle.

Oh Anne - I am so sorry that sweet little Kylie is not doing better. I was hoping that she was on the upswing. What did they say when she collapsed in the office this morning? What are they checking with the neurologist for? Glad to hear that platelets are up but has the tbd panel come back yet? Hope she is feeling better this afternoon and that they can get her stable and comfortable. We understand about the insurance and the costs of everything - everytime we get the monthly deduction for Gus and Gracie I re-think the cost of the insurance and then remember how much of a difference it made for us with Vinnie. And since Gus is so klutzy, it is used quite a bit. Hopefully they can work out a payment plan and also check into Care Credit - it helped us cover the upfront monies needed. Above all, keep your head and spirits up as much as you can, it will help Kylie stay calm. Easier said than done, I know. Sending additional prayers and healing thoughts along with hugs for you and lots of scritches for Miss Kylie. Will look for your update this afternoon.

Oh, Anne, not having a diagnosis is torture! I hope you get some results from OSU, but I am sure they will want to speak to your Vet, too! Were you able to talk about increasing the doxy? Sending mountains of prayers for Kylie and hugs of support for you.

I spoke to the specialist last evening and told her what had happened at the regular vet. She is dumb-founded. She brought up a brain lesion, old dog vestibular disease and of course the TBD...which the results STILL aren't in. She said she would call them today. She wants to up her pred dosage from 5 to 10 mg,but the doxy stays the same .Kylie spent a quiet night and I just had her out for her morning "business". I still have to have a sling around her when we walk. She's still wobbley and will splay her legs to stand.

In the mean time, my old aby, Mouse is passing blood and if the meds I just gave her no longer work, she will begin her journey..I'm emotionally drained and exhausted,or else I'd be crying. :(

As soon as I know anything I will let everyone know.
