Guest 4gryhnds Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 It has been a while since I have been on Greytalk. Rocky lost his battle with cancer on January 20th. I took him to the vet to see if anything more could be done with his toe. I had treated him with antibiotics because the open sore was infected again. This time my vet had him on the antibiotic for a month. Within a week of going off of them, the infection was back. Rocky was in a great deal of pain, and was not eating very well. It had become clear that this time was the time for me to make the decision. My husband Gary was with me. He normally is working when I have vet appointments. This was the first time he had been with me. I was grateful that we were both there for Rocky when the vet put him to sleep. Rocky went very peacefully. Rocky was a kind gentle sole with a very calming spirit. I miss him a great deal. Even though Panda, Danger and Carson fill our home with joy, there is still the great void that comes with Rocky's loss. I miss cooking special meals for him. I miss taking him for rides in the car. I miss his forceful nudges when he wanted my attention. I miss his little bark when he wanted my assistance. I miss our naps together. I am so grateful for the extra time he had with us.
