My Boy Sarge

Sargie, the only boy we've ever had in 30 years, my most perfect gentlemanly, loving, beautiful fawn houndie. I never wanted a boy dog, but Sarge showed me how wonderful boys are. Sarge has been limping all weekend. I know a limp can be any minor little thing in my head...but in my heart I'm terrified of that awful word I can't even say. His appetite is good, but his eyes aren't as bright and shiny and he lets out little cries when he lays down or gets up. We have an appt. with our vet at 3:00 this afternoon - sometimes paying thousands in vet bills is a good thing - I can get an appointment even on the most crowded days.

Please think good thoughts for my Sarge, my bubba boy. I keep telling my heart what my head says, but my heart talks louder. After reading all the heart breaking stories on here, I'm just plain ol' scared. Sargie is THE best boy in the world and he deserves a lot more time to lay around in the sun and watch for those pesky squirrels that sit in the tree and tease him.

Please, all good thought and prayers for him today. Thank you.

-Connie

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers - they worked! Just got back from the vet (and from stopping at Sargie's daddy's office to say Hi) and the vet thinks it's a soft tissue injury. We are to give him Previcox for 3 days, stop the Previcox and see how it goes from there. Of course, at the vet's office he didn't cry once while she was manipulating his leg, but for me he whined when I just went to pick it up! So, fingers crossed that it is just a soft tissue injury. And after we got home he wasn't limping as bad as before.... I know I worry myself needlessly a lot of time, but I can't help it.

So peanut butter pills for 3 days and he scored some yummies at the vet's office and lots of scritches from daddy's work - he's now laying down exhausted cause he missed his afternoon nap!
