Guest Greensleeves Posted August 29, 2008 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Well, it's been a week since Nelly went off the IV fluid therapy for her kidney disease. She's had four doses of sub-cu fluids this week, and she had new bloodwork this morning. Unfortunately, all her numbers are back up again to what they were before we had the IV done (creatinine 4.4). We'll be doing 500 ccs of fluid daily here at home now. We'll test again next week to see if we're able to maintain at those levels (the Mar Vista site says "a good goal in kidney failure is below 4.5"). If we can, that's good(ish). If not... sigh. She's having good days and bad days; she's still rarin' to go on her walks, but we've had to switch to a home-cooked diet. She loves that, which makes us smile, but still. We upped her Pepcid dosage, plus added Azodyl, Tums, and 3V Caps to her regimen (which includes the phosphate binders). But I can't imagine that pushing all these drugs/supplements down her is making her feel any better. I'm exhausted. I'm demoralized. I'm overwhelmed and heartbroken. No IV fluids and no special diet at the moment and she is doing very well. It is DaBones and his stomach issues that are exhausting me at the moment. Hang in there and keep at it .
