Prayers For Mandy

Recommended Posts

We adopted Amanda in September at the tender age of 11. She had her 12th birthday in March.

Tonight, we found out that the vet thinks she needs more specialized care, and we will be transferring her tomorrow morning to Texas A&M for access to more specialized tests and care.

We still don't know what is going on, but Mandy has not eaten since Monday, is in pain, and struggling. I don't know all the technical jargon, but they are seeming to settle on a tick born disease (TBD). The blood work (TBD) won't be back for a few more days. And they are giving her lots of supportive care, antiobiotics, IV fluids, and pain meds. It may even be more than 1 issue. None of the bloodwork or xrays show any cancer, or out of the order numbers.

Mandy is the sweetest girl, and she does not deserve this illness or to get so bad so fast. Please pray for her.

Please, I beg all of you, if you have not tested your pups for TBD yet, get it done now!!!! You could save your pup from a lot of problems early!

Guest myjazzy

Sherrie,

I saw your post about Mandy in the GPA board yesterday, but I couldn't post from my home computer, I've got to take care of that. In the meantime, please know that I'm hoping that you can find out what's wrong with Miss Mandy soon. The first time I saw her she reminded me of my first greyhound, Jazzy, so I've kept up with her.

Mandy, please be a good girl and eat for mommy.

Lots of prayers and thoughts of healing white lights for your sweet girl. I hope the more specialized tests pinpoint the issue and she starts eating and feeling better. Hugs to you and scritches for Amanda.

Sending lots of prayers. Please make sure they (A&M) understand that not all tick diseases are showing up in a regular panel. Also, Dr. Stack has said that dogs with erlichia in the critical stage will test negative. It won't hurt to do a shot of doxy and a shot of dex.

If A&M doesn't believe me, have them call Dr. Couto at Ohio State or Dr. Stack in Arizona.

Thank you all for the kind words and prayers.

We let Mandy go this afternoon. Besides possible the TBD, she had a tumor that had not metastasized at the base of her brain. It was pressing on the brain stem causing her throat to be painful and paralyzed. It would only have been a matter of a couple of more days, and she would not have been able to breath through her larynx from the paralysis.

We miss her so much. Our hearts are broken. Kendra her 5 year old adopted sister, is hiding in the closet and whining too.
