Lordy.

We've had Stan at the vets this afternoon because he really wasn't well....and now we know why he felt so dire. He had a temperature of 105.5 :eek We don't know if he's had a bad reaction to the new drug or whether it's just bad timing that he's picked up some sort of infection but for the moment, he's not taking the new drug and has had an antibiotic injection and has come home to have lots of cool towels, plenty of water etc and then he has to go back in the morning at 10.30 to be looked at again.

The good news is that he does seem to have picked up quite considerably since he had the injection and has just eaten his first meal since yesterday morning, He looks a lot more 'of this earth' than he did a few hours ago.

Now I'll go and update Poppys thread (which is in EEG)

Just done a temperature check and it's now 38.9 (102.02), which is a big improvement from 5pm when it was 40.83 (105.5).

Morning. Stan has just had his half a paracetamol (on the vets advice) and before he had it, his temp was still the same as last night. He's going to be seen by the vet at 10.30 so we'll see if it's come down any by then. He did sleep OK and he's had his breakfast so things are better than they were this time yesterday at least

PS He says "fank yew" to Polli for the cookie :D

yes, the gabapentin is helping Gus for Osteo pain. it was semi expreimental on my Vet's behalf, she's glad it seems to be working too. I guess it works on different receptors than the traditionally prescribed pain relievers.

p.s. someone warned me ahead of time too, which caused me to not panic. ;)

as and FYI - In some humans it can cause weight gain. This is not something in the literature, yet.

It gets used a lot at work for Neuropathic pain in para- and quadrapleics, believe it or not.
