Guest greybookends
OK I am home and all is well. Thankfully it was not a snake bite which is what we checked first. The vet figures it was most likely a bug probably a spider. I t had to have happened when I put them out just before bed( which by the way I haven't gotten to yet) I was passing out cookies and stared down into this horribly swollen face( that by the way was still begging for cookies). Her left eye was almost swollen shut her muzzle was swollen so tight that her lips were so hard if they had swollen anymore they would have split. Her ears were red and the skin around her eyes was red. I was terrified if the swelling continued her airway would be compromised. The vet gave her a Benadryl injection and sent me home with some Benadryl capsules. She looks much better and I feel much better. I will feel even better after I get some sleep. Thanks for the prayers. Good night.

Guest greybookends
Most of the swelling has gone down but she is real whiney just like she was Wednesday night. I think she has a touch of what Ginny has and keeps wanting to graze which is probably what got her bitten in the first p-lace, she most likely poked her nose into a spider web in the grass while grazing. Once again she whined all night to go out and I haven't gotten any sleep. She ate all of her breakfast this morning and I added some sweet potatoe to it to see if it will help her tummy. I haven't seen any D though. Well I am off to let her whiney butt out AGAIN and follow her around the yard to keep her out of trouble. Burpdog
Sending prayers! Did you ask the vet about giving her some pepcid, tagamet or zantac? It might calm her tummy down. I've had that happen with the swollen face. It was Chrissy and it only happened once. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits

I've had that happen with the swollen face. It was Chrissy and it only happened once. The tummy was upset before the bite and in the sheer relief of knowing she was alright and the fact that it was 1:30 in the morning I forgot to ask. If I need to I will call my vet later when he opens to ask. I must say however it was the cheapest trip to the E Vet I have ever had. Guest KennelMom
Poor girl! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery A similar thing happened to me once w/a kennel foster. The day before the dog was to leave SC for their home in Canada I fed her breakfast, everything was fine. At the lunchtime turnout her face had swollen up like a balloon! Fortunately, it was during the day so our regular vet could see her and the suspicion was some sort of bug bite.

Guest greybookends
I wish I had gotten a picture of her poor beautiful face all puffed up but I used to be an EMT and I know an allergic reaction when I see it and how quickly the airways can become restricted and my first priority was to get her to a vet I did however pause long enough to ask for prayers that it wasn't as serious as it looked. Thanks everyone.
