The poor thing had been mistreated in his former life before coming to the stable to be a trail horse. I was privalidged to ride him one day. He coliced one afternoon, and not too long after I had left for the night (the owner of the stable was there waiting for the vet), I knew that he had passed as my heart fell down to my feet and I started weeping. When I got there the next morning, his body was laying on the side of the barn (on the ground) waiting to be buried. The whole barn suffered a loss that day.
