  1. Oh no Robin! I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. I will light a candle for Loca's trip to the bridge. My heart goes out to you.
  2. Robin, you and Loca are in my thoughts. I hope the folks at Guelph get back to you soon today.
  3. Sweet Misty. Thank you for posting the pictures - I especially love the play-pose one.
  4. Well that is just wonderful news!! Obviously she heard about the harness, and decided it would not coordinate with her lingerie. Good girl Loca!
  5. Robin, next time you take Loca for a laser treatment, have them laser you for a moment - I did that as I was curious - it really doesn't hurt at all, unless in the process they manipulated her in a way that resulted in pain. In any event, I hope Loca is feeling better soon.
  6. What a horrible shock. I am so sorry.
  7. I am mostly a lurker on CoG and have the utmost respect for Jean's wisdom and empathy. My heartfelt sympathy to her at a deeply felt loss.
  8. I am so sorry for the loss of your special boy, who surely knew how much he was loved.
  9. Rickie is having laser treatments for arthritis in his front carpal joints. We have been going once or twice per week, but are dropping back the frequency to every 2 weeks for now. We have also been using the underwater treadmill and doing range of motion exercises, so I can't isolate his improvement to the laser, but a marked limp has been reduced to limping occasionally for a few steps - a huge improvement.
  10. I started my whippet on Cosequin after a partial carpal fusion surgery in 2004. He is just starting to show signs of arthritis now - he'll be 11 in June. I believe it delayed the onset of the arthritis. The vet switched us from Cosequin to Flexadin (same company, slightly different formulation). This year I also started to give him Wobenzym and Zeel daily and they seem to help as well. Quick question about the Cosamin: do you need a prescription to purchase it at Costco, or is it OTC? I want to start my grey Arlie, who will turn 8 this year, on a joint supplement proactively, and the Cosamin sounds like a possibility.
  11. Sending prayers Iceman is in the 25% for sure!
  12. Just seeing the latest - you'll be at the vet's right now - will be watching for updates with all paws crossed here.
  13. A veterinary dermatologist told me about melatonin for fixing Arlie's bald butt, but I never pursued it. I did ask about drowsiness as a side effect and she said the dose required wouldn't have that result, but we didn't get into specifics. Might be worth asking your vet, particularly if there is someone at the clinic with a particular interest in dermatology.
  14. Glad things are looking up for Loca - enjoy your weekend of servitude.
  15. No experience here either, but sending prayers and well wishes for your Penny.
  16. Hopefully Loca will sleep deeply with the help of all those meds, and wake up feeling better, and hungry, in the morning. Watching for updates and beaming moral support your way.
  17. Robin please let me know if there is anything I can do.
  18. Hopefully he'll surprise you tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  19. You were probably already doing something like this anyway, but FWIW, when I need to give Rickie Metacam, I wait til right after he eats, and then mix it into a little vanilla Ensure. We've never had any issues doing this way, but of course it's a very individual thing.
