I spent a lot of my life SW of Corpus Christi working with horses and the chiggers would get me if I was sitting in the grass at a horse show. Those may be from chiggers originally and could be infected, so yeah a vet visit is needed. Take a look link Scroll down to the picture.

Just saw this, I am so glad that sweet girly is OK.

My greys have not required worming since the worming that was done just prior to my adopting them. I have a fecal test done every six months and it has always been negative. There is no way I would use a wormer unless there was an indication that it was necessary.

I believe it is possible to be allergic to most anything. Since the two different things were the ox tail and melatonin, do not give either of them for a few days and see if the neck redness goes away. If it does go away, then try just one of those two things, if the neck redness comes back you will have your answer.
