  1. Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. Spencer was an amazing and handsome boy. Those beautiful photos capture the many happy and magical moments with him so well. May that aching feeling you describe in time become a warm glow as you are comforted by the memories of your very special pup. He is never far away from you.
  2. Thank you for adding Tasha to the list. She is so deeply missed.
  3. Thank you all for your kind words of comfort. She is dearly missed. Our pups have been very quiet and subdued. Tasha was the center of all activity and they always followed her lead. Everyone is feeling lost. There are so many photos of our girl that I love. Here are two of my favorites. A Sunny Summer Day with Zeke With Hobbes for an outing near a lake
  4. Our hearts are broken at the sudden loss today of our beautiful Tasha. In a matter of a few hours we lost a healthy, active greyhound to a cardiac event. This morning she went out the door at 4:15 with the other dogs, beginning our day just as we always have done. Tasha was on her way back inside to be fed when she suddenly staggered a few steps and collapsed on her side. She was able to regain some mobility to stand and walk but her breathing was very labored. At the e-vet, she had another "event" and went into cardiac arrest. Within the space of 10 hours from beginning to end, our girl was suddenly gone. It is still hard to believe how swiftly she was taken from us. Tasha came to us in late November of 2002. I loved her tan spots and "sassy" personality. Over the years, her spots faded to a blush and eventually she began to look like a lovely almost white greyhound. She was an independent, outgoing and very confident girl. Her personality was engaging and she adored being the center of attention Young Tasha with all her spots My beautiful girl loved the weekly Sunday morning rides in the back of our car with Zeke & Fiona. As soon as they got in, all three would stretch out contently and sleep for the entire ride. She loved to cuddle on the couch with me covered by a blanket. The line of shopping bags from the grocery store was a treasure trove of new scents and packages to explore as she supervised the unpacking. She especially loved spending time in our backyard, lounging in the sun or wandering the snowy paths. Sweet Tasha, I will miss the way you ran into the kitchen and gave a quick "roo" to greet me. I will miss your silky soft fur and adorable ears that always seemed to stand at attention. I will miss your beautiful brown eyes watching me from your bed as I went about my chores. I will miss the spirited way you walked down the street on our special walks, so full of joy at being out and about. For 11-1/2 years you have been a companion, friend, confidant, nursemaid and official greeter of guests. You have been the fun-police to the younger greyhounds and taught them the proper manners as only you could do. They will be lost without you just as I will miss your gentle presence. My Tasha, I wish we could have celebrated your 13th birthday in May. I wish I had more time to tell you how much I love you. I wish you were here with me now where I could once again rub your soft fur and kiss your brow. You will be in my heart forever.
  5. One of our greyhounds gets diarrhea from antibiotics. As suggested, feed the bland diet and if possible, get the okay for treating with Flagyl while Evie is on antibiotics. We have to do this every time our pup needs treatment to keep ahead of the diarrhea. Your vet may be able to offer some suggestions for the upset stomach as well. Hope Evie heals quickly.
  6. Hoping Chevy is much more comfortable today and is able to come home. We are all wishing him a quick healing & recovery from this nightmare. Please give little Ollie a hug for me. This has been a terrible experience for everyone in your family.
  7. Adrianne, all my thoughts and prayers are with Chevy to come through the surgery safely and recover from his wounds. This is a horrifying experience for you and Seth. Thank god Ollie was safe from the attack. Your poor boy - this is awful.
  8. I am so sorry that Joseph had to leave you and Grammy. His photos were always so special to see and he will be missed. With that wonderful nose, Joseph had the sweetest face. My heart goes out to you both on your loss.
  9. Tom, that is a wonderful photo of Hero. A happy boy enjoying one of his favorite things. Your video of Hero playing in the snow was lovely to watch. His time with you was packed with love, attention and all the good things in life.
  10. Tom, I am so saddened to see your loss. I remember so well the sudden loss of Jed and the bright light that Hero brought to your life as a heart healer. Your beautiful boy was far too young. I know you and Paula are heartbroken. May the memories of all the wonderful moments you spent with Hero bring you comfort.
  11. EZ was such a beautiful boy. He knew how dearly he was loved and had a happy home with you. I will always remember EZ and the carrots.
  12. Jan, my heart is breaking with yours at Gracie's passing. Your joyful, twirling girl has left you far too early but every moment she spent with you was a special time for Gracie. She was meant to come to you at a time she was needed most. Gracie discovered that a loving, caring home was waiting for her at Camp Greyhound and every twirl illustrated her happiness and joy with you. Rest easy beautiful girl and twirl to your heart's content.
  13. Our greyhound Hobbes had Vestibular twice. He was on similar medication and had difficulty walking for about a week. Very gradually he improved in slow steps and by the end of two weeks was back to normal. The recovery time seems to vary from dog to dog but it sounds like your boy is doing well. It is hard not to worry when you see them feeling ill. I agree with you and tbhounds. He should be able to recover at home and would probably be a lot happier.
  14. Flex sounds very much like our Hobbes. He would react badly to the best of medications and get vomiting & diarrhea as a side affect. Starting at age 12, he had two incidents of Vestibular where he couldn't stand or move well, his balance was completely off for a few days and was very disoriented. He was extremely distressed by the dizziness which led to him spiking a high fever and an emergency trip back to the vets. It is very scary to watch and does look like a stroke. Your vet will be able to evaluate what happened. Hobbes also had difficulty at that age with urine leaking on his bed, especially when he was trying to stand up. You could try putting some of the small bed pads they sell in drug stores (they have a waterproof backing) on the bed and couch with a large thick towel over it to catch any of the dripping. I had a supply of them on hand to quickly slip off the soiled towel/pad and get the bed ready with a clean one. I know how frightening it is to see your pup feeling this uncomfortable. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.
  15. I'm so sorry Hailey had to leave you. What a moving, beautiful tribute to a very special girl. You have perfectly captured the essence of her joyful personality and the deep bond you shared. May your family find comfort in all the wonderful memories of your time with Hailey. :f_pink
  16. I am so sorry for your loss. Bella was such a lovely, sweet girl. It's clear from your touching tribute that you had a very close bond. What beautiful moments and memories you have of the time you shared with Bella.
  17. I am so sorry Jilly Bean had to leave you. She was a free spirit with a wonderful soul that you could see in all the photos. Jilly was memorable and will be missed by everyone on GT. My heart goes out to you and your family on your loss.
  18. I'm wondering if the limp is from some inflammation and the Meloxicam relieved some of the discomfort for Finn. We are using this daily on our lab who had a significant limp from arthritis. We saw results within one day and he is now able to walk his normal route. If there is an old fracture, perhaps Finn is experiencing arthritis in the area causing discomfort. Just a thought as it is sometimes hard to puzzle out the cause.
  19. So nice to see improvements. Every one is a step closer to healing and coming home. Enjoy your visit. Continued good wishes for Pinky's total recovery.
  20. The symptoms sound very much like Vestibular Syndrome which our greyhound Hobbes experienced. It takes a few days to recover (and varies with each dog) but gradually the symptoms disappear. Hope Pinky will be fine and back to normal quickly.
  21. Happy Birthday Lady Bug and Zeke-aroni. I picture you together snuggling in a nice soft, warm spot at the Bridge just as you did at Camp Greyhound. Two sweet siblings who will be in Mom's heart forever.
  22. Robin, I remember so well Elsie Lou's homecoming and how quickly she came to adore you. She brought you comfort after your loss of Polli and with her amazing personality became deeply loved by you in return. Elsie has such a joyous face in your signature. In all her photos she exhibited such happiness and contentment at being near you. It is such a cruel blow to have her leave you after the hardship of the last two weeks. Your heartbreak is unbearable and it saddens me to see the great loss you and Rich are feeling. Saying I'm sorry just doesn't seem to be enough.
  23. Our yellow lab Bailey is also on 1/2 of the 7.5 pill, once a day. This seems to be the preferred dose and works very well. I am so sorry that Suzy is going through this and experiencing pain. My thoughts are with you and your girl.
  24. I'm so sorry Jan. Their homecoming is such a bittersweet moment. All our thoughts are with you.
  25. Jan, this was a truly beautiful and touching tribute to your heart dog. Pal was unique, a one-of-a-kind gentleman who was the most charming soul in a greyhound's body. So much of the sweetness and love he gave to others was because of the very close bond you and he had developed right from the start. You two had an incredible journey together, one that can be looked back upon with many smiles and much laughter. May all those precious moments bring you great comfort now. God speed Pal. I will always remember you with your pillow & bear tucked under your chin as you watched your world at Camp Greyhound.
