  1. I'll say a prayer for her. She is such a cute little thing! Please keep us posted.
  2. What a handsome boy. I know what you mean about the passage of time. I'm so glad he sent you a rainbow!
  3. No blood at all in her mouth and I checked her feet as well. She's asleep in her bed right now.
  4. The Christmas tree went up this weekend and this is Streak's first Christmas here. I came into the room to find a Christmas ball ornament in pieces in the floor. It was one one of those hollow glass-like (but not really glass) ornaments. The pieces are not sharp enough to cut your fingers. The little thing on top where you hook on the hanger was still there. I looked at the pieces and it appears most of the ball is there. I looked in her mouth and she had tiny pieces of it on her teeth and gums. I wiped these off with a wet paper towel. I think she chomped it and it shattered and she spit it out. I am worried sick. We are leaving town tomorrow and they are staying at the kennel. Should I give her some bread or anything? I don't know what to do. I am glad they are staying at the kennel because if there is an emergency she is just a mile from her regular vet. Where we are going does NOT have an abundance of vets and I don't know them anyway. Any and all thoughts appreciated. I had to leave the house today so I put chairs all around the tree until she is used to it. This happened while I was out of the room for a few minutes. Thanks all!

We are so very sorry. Sending prayers for you hearts to heal. Run free handsome boy.
  6. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I can only speak for myself, but for me the time leading up is worse than when it actually happens. I'm not saying that the actual moment won't be hard, but afterwards there is a sense of relief that their pain has ended. Don't feel guilty about a sense of relief. I used to beat myself up thinking I must be the only person who felt that way, only to find out it's perfectly normal. I have always stayed with my dogs during the process and wouldn't have it any other way for myself. In addition to wanting to be there, it also eliminates the wondering about how the process happens. When we lost Miss Jackie in 2007 we took Miss Jonelle to the vet with us. She knew, and she was so good. That first night, she got up to look for Jackie. I think she just forgot for a moment. After a couple of days, she was fine. You and your boy will be in my prayers.
  7. Sending prayers for your girl. I agree with Kennelmom to have the bloodwork redone. I took Jonelle in for a full panel one time and her electrolyte values ( I think there are 3 of them?) came in off the charts. I was hysterical and then the vet said "these are not life sustaining values". Well, she was clearly alive and well. He knew there was some kind of error and we retested and she was fine. Hopefully, it's something as simple as that.
  8. Bless her heart. She is a beautiful girl. I was going to suggest a sling but I see that has been discussed already. Sending hugs to you both! I LOVE her name! Tuna!
  9. Thank you for telling her story and sharing her pictures. I'm sure it was hard to write so soon. I remember reading about her TV watching when I joined GT and I remember that picture from the first time I ever saw it. There were many other things about her that I did not know and I was so interested to read more about her. I know your hearts are hurting right now and there is nothing to say to ease the pain. Just know that others have been there and understand and pray for your hearts to heal. I just know that special girl will send you a sign very soon. Run free sweet girl.......
  10. You've covered a lot of ground already and that's good. I think I would ask for xrays of other areas adjacent to the leg. This would be to make sure there isn't something elsewhere that is manifesting itself in the leg. Sending many prayers!
  11. I'm so very sorry. Sending many prayers for your hearts to heal. Run free sweet Cosmo.
  12. I'm so sorry. Sending many prayers for Cosmo and her family. :hope
  13. Glad to hear he's doing well! Continued prayers for that handsome boy.
  14. I would caution you to remember your dog is chipped. This would be so that you don't become hysterical when you find a lump between the shoulder blades and are about to rush to the vet thinking it's a tumor. Luckily DH was home to examine the lump and remind me I had her chipped. My vet already thinks I'm a loon as it is.
  15. Wonderful news! I was so sad after reading your initial post. I'm glad your girl is eating! Continued prayers for her and for you too.
  16. Right now I have tentative plans to come up for open house. I think it will be easy to find us if we do. I learned a trick from some other smart GTers. To type "Niña", after the N and i just hold the ALT key while typing 164 on the keypad and release. Ta-da! You instantly get a ~ over the second n. Greyt! I'll be there with my cowgirls Jonelle and Streak. I'll look for you!
  17. Congratulations! She is precious! I LOVE the seniors and the tiny ones. You got both! Will you be at the fall open house? I want to see this little girl in person!
  18. Patti, Fred and Renee, I am just stunned to read this. I am so very sorry. You will be in my prayers.
  19. I'm so sorry to read your latest update. Sending prayers.

  21. Congratulations! He's beautiful!! swoon!
  22. I'm glad she's doing so well! Does she still watch TV like she used to? I used to crack up reading about her and her TV watching.
  23. I'm so sorry to read about your boy. I will share with you the story of the late Miss Magic. Magic had kidney disease. She also had very similar heart issues to your boy. Her murmur was graded as 5 to 6 and she had sub-aortic stenosis. During the last year of her life, she was treated at NCSU as well. She was on Enalapril and Amlodipine too. We would have to do weekly BP checks at my local vet to make sure the Amlodipine was not making her kidney disease worse. If you had read her initial report/findings after her visit to NCSU you would have thought they were going to bring her out on a stretcher. She had spent the night there and when they went to get her she came running down the hall like she had been away at camp. All of the vet students listened to her murmur and she just ate that up. I told them they wouldn't need to sedate her for her ultrasound and I was right. She just lay there wide awake and people were walking by stunned that she was so compliant. She loved to ride in the car so the two hour trip each way was no problem---just another one of Magic's most excellent adventures. Magic passed away from complications of pancreatitis a year after we started taking her to NCSU. Who would have guessed that? Her diet was very strict due to the kidney disease and we did not vary from that at all. If she had been in good health otherwise she probably would have pulled through, but the toll on her kidneys was just too much. In the end, her creatinine was over 8.0 and her BUN was up over 100. We brought her home hoping she would start to eat, but I knew she wouldn't. She never had a problem eating ANYWHERE. I knew the end was near and a couple of days later we had to let her go at our local vet's office. She has just turned 13 six days prior to this. Up until the pancreatitis, Magic NEVER showed any symptoms of being ill. She never coughed or showed signs of exertion. Her appetite was great the whole time. She was her usual bossy, fit-throwing self. I learned a great deal from this experience. The body (human or canine or other) is a complex machine. Many times, medications to treat one ailment can end up compromising another vital organ. That's where the balancing act begins. Medicine is not an exact science. Please don't second guess yourself or think you missed something. It sounds like you took wonderful care of your boy and watched him closely. Unfortunately, this is how it happens sometimes. It sounds like his last day was a happy one. That's all any of us can hope for. Sending prayers for your hearts to heal.
  24. I'm so sorry to read this. I fondly remember your stories about Cosmo and her TV watching. Sending many prayers and positive thoughts for Cosmo and you and your family. :hope
