  1. Having laser reduction tomorrow. The first phase, anyway. On the OSU website her condition is considered an autoimmune disease. Dr. C. said we could see the dentist there but they do not do the laser surgery that she needs.
  2. I asked Dr. C. about that and his opinion is it probably doesn't even work in greys because they are finding, like everything else about them, the bacteria in their bodies is different, too!
  3. Sounds like what my niece's dog had. "Crystals" in the ear fluid or something. People get it too.
  4. Angel, age 12, has extensive overgrowth of her gums to the point that I can't even see some of her teeth. Dr. Couto peeked at her and said he had never seen this so bad in a grey! Its common is cats. It came on over the course of a few months although she has always had dental problems. She needs laser surgery and then immune suppressant drugs for months-maybe forever. I'm meeting a new vet today-affiliated with my vet but has the laser facility. Hoping this will not be too hard on Gellybean. She's 12, has bladder problems and high blood pressure. The plan is to do it in 3-4 phases. I worry about that much anesthia. Just a thought, this began after we got the dental vaccine. Just wondering.

    Jake

We sent Jake to be with his sister today. They were together their whole lives and now forevermore. LS and many complications. Four days after his 14th birthday. His pain is gone and he can run.
  7. I missed the post. So sorry! That's beautiful

    Kia

I'm so sorry to see this. I usually can't read this thread for this very reason. To see a familiar name in the title... I'll light candles for our girls this weekend

    Goods

It is getting so hard to open this forum and see our favorite names in the titles. I'm so sorry.
  10. I'm so sorry. I'm glad you took pictures on her last day.

    Lizzie

Liz left us this morning. Sent to the bridge from her own bed. We found out yesterday that her pelvis was eaten up with cancer. She only started limping about 2 weeks ago. Couldn't take the chance the bone would break-she was so unsteady. Liz and her brother Jake were bounced together at age 7. She was just 6 weeks shy of her 14th birthday. The old lady has left an empty bed next to the fireplace. An empty lavender princess collar and purple leopard print coat that no one else can possibly fill.
  12. So sorry. Looks like Homie was a half brother of Z, Bones and Dennis.
  13. Along the same idea, I have a long broom handle, minus the broom, duct taped to the end is a circle made of a wire hanger in which a plastic tub can rest. It requires a lot of nonchalant wandering about and quick action at the precice second! I also find that the reluctant pee-er will pee at the vet's for the techs!

    Big Will

Will went to wait at the bridge last night. D's Iron Will was my 2nd foster. When he first arrived he was more like a golden retriever in personality than a greyhound. His adoption was not without challanges but his family did everyhting they could to make him feel at home. A couple of years ago their baby developed severe allergies and Will went to his second home. This new dad was fabulous for Will and they were like a copuple of sports buddies hanging out on game day! Late this year Will devopled osteosarcoma and was a patient at OSU. This past weekend life just became to painful and sad for Will and his dad let him go.
  16. Bottoms-up Leash Another option for this situation.
  17. He's doing so well! When we talked yesterday I forgot to tell you about the two weeks of crying you have to look forward to. That's HIS crying. Yours may be longer! They all seem to have episodes of the crying/death scream. Ours was always at night! Whether it is phantom pain, real pain, using new muscles, neck realignment, or whatever, it seems to last 2 weeks. He sounds like he is ready to get on with life!
  18. Not sure of their bloodline but I found it really interesting that Zinger and his half brother, Dennis (who are identical) developed osteo in the same place at the exact same age. Their life after amp was about the same length also. Z has full siblings who are still healthy.
  19. Good News! Will you get to see him tomorrow?
  20. Glad your day went so well. (As well as it can go when you're talking cancer). Please call if you need anything! Maybe a place to hang out?
