  1. Z didn't have any side effect to speak of. He never missed a meal!
  2. It was a good 2 weeks or more for Zinger. I think it is partially caused by medications. It also seemed his neck really bothered him when he would try to get up. (he was a front leg amp) It does pass.
  3. Leash As he recovers this might help. We have one for Jake for his bad days and in the snow and ice.
  4. Angel takes Norvasc. It is expensive! We can now get a generic form that is slightly cheaper but not much. My friend's grey takes benazepril at a much lower cost. Not sure why they choose one or the other. Angel's blood pressure was hard to get under control. I think about 3 months of increasing dosages and weekly monitoring. She now takes 20 mg twice a day.
  5. Oh no! I just heard about this. Cora told me. Prayers for Alan and all you guys!
  6. A friend adopted an older guy who had had a toe amp sometime in his past. It was a botched job and the poor guy could hardly walk. She had it redone properly and he runs like a kid now.
  7. Those are some greyt pictures! You can't tell but Dennis was always wearing his yellow "Live Strong" collar made by his mom. They were up here a few weeks ago when we had our COGR reunion and got to come! The Ohio folks who only knew Zinger were sure confused!
  8. Arwen is fine. Her lump is not a mass but a tendon injury.
  9. Z went to the bridge on his own last September.
  10. Z's brother Dennis the Menace was helped to the bridge yesterday. Complications from OS became too much for him. The boys together last July.
  11. I will be thinking of you. Z's brother, Dennis is doing well with the artemisinin. They feel it is giving him more time. He, like Z had front leg amp and many months cancer free before it returned. Mets in the lung are not growing. He also has a tumor in his mouth that his mom says is "decomposing". Zinger was in a study for chemo drugs and could not have the Art.
  12. Well, its no trek for us but, I totally trust them to do the best for my babies. I use them as my e-vet after hours. I have a good friend who drive 6-7 hours to get here. They have gone through the trauma of chemo every 2 weeks and now come every 3 months. As a teaching hospital the experience will be a little different from what you may be used to. They will take your dog to the back for his exam and you wait.....and wait......and wait. Be prepared to spend most of the day there the first time. They can give you the names of the best places to stay when you call and really go out of their way to help with the whole trip from out of town thing. I don't think there is anywhere in this part of the country that is as specialized in greyhound wellness.
  13. Arwen has a strange lump on the back of her "wrist". That area where you can feel all the tendons and stuff going to the foot. It is hard and doesn't move but isn't attached to a bone. She had a fall jumping over the garden fence (2 ft. high) and skinned her wrists badly on the flagstones. The vet doesn't think the lump is related to the fall. We just noticed it while cleaning her up. Vet was not able to aspirate any cells from it. She's removing it on Monday. Just wondering what this could be. It feels so wierd. Almost like a bone out of place but there is no pain.
  14. I used to see Willow in the yard sometimes. DH has seen her, too, but doesn't believe it. I've been waiting since September for a sign from my heart dog.......
  15. It still feels like she just left.
  16. poems You may find something here.
  17. I'm so sorry. She went just like Z. Mass on the ribs and all.
  18. I'm so sorry she had to leave. It's been a hard road for her lately.

    Zinger

Today would have been Z's 9th birthday.
  20. Gracie was a true rescue story. She was found wandering beside a back road in freezing weather. Picked up by a vet office worker who was lost. She was a brood from a horrible situation and they didn't want her back. Called her Old Hag. She was about 9. Had lived outside. She came to our group, She was playful and happy to be warm. Gracie went to be spayed today and they found mammary tumors. They decided to do the spay and remove the tumors. She came through fine but in recovery her heart stopped and she could not be revived. Poor old girl was just beginning the good life.
  21. So sorry you are going through this. You'll find many others here who have gone through it. I lost my heart dog in Sept. to osteo after only having having him for 18 months. We are all here for you to lean on.
  22. I'm so sorry for your loss. She has a twin here. This is my Lizzie. 12 1/2. She was a return also, at 7. Run Free sweet Liz.
  23. Things I have received are a tattoo bracelet from northcoastgreyhounds.net and a greyhound pal from greyhoundpals.com
