  1. Thought I would let you know what they found out today. She has complex partial epilepsy. Since she is already 11 they won't try to find the reason for it but she is put on medication to make her life easier for her. Thanks for all your suggestions.
  2. Thanks, but for now we are going for a physical problem. Everyone else, thank you, your suggestions are printed out and taken to the vet.
  3. Tex was just diagnosed with mild LP, he is my second dog with it. The first was Teddy my whippet. With both the dr told me to return if they started panting heavily. With him losing his voice for most of the time and the panting, I would check with your vet, it might be time for the operation.
  4. Thanks, i'll mention it to her. I really didn't know this.
  5. Thanks but this is something that repeats itself and the behavior isn't as a result from overeating, the obsessive need to eat is part of the problem but she is monitored so she can't overeat in those periods. A blockage is ruled out.
  6. One of my friends has an old galgo girl that is in need of help now. Next week they are going to do a gastroscopie, not sure what the English word for it is, but they are going to look at the inside of her stomach. For quite some time now she has been having these periods in which she will get really obsessive in her eating habits, she'll eat anything, her food, the carpet, plastic, shoelaces, anything. At the same time she is nauseous, will yawn and swallow a lot, walk around very nervously and simply can't get any rest. She is clearly in a lot of distress. This last period lasted for 16 hours, she has had longer and shorter ones. Now that it is over, she is really exhausted and will sleep for days. The vet is out of idea's and that is why they will put the tube in her throat now even though they really wanted to avoid that because of other reasons. Anyone ever heard of this. It isn't Cushing, that is clear. Thanks.

I am so sorry. coming your way.
  8. I am so sorry Kristen. But he sure knew he was loved Hugs to you.
  9. No baths here unless someone manages to roll in something really bad. Just brushing and petting a lot. The occasional stain gets done with baby wipes, but haven't had to do that in a very long time now. They all smell fine to me so I don't want to upset them.
  10. Tonight I got the sad and totally unexpected message of the passing of Richard. GT member name Woolfy. Even though we never met, he became a real friend over the years we visited GT. We talked in chat and he and his wife Elise made sure they kept in touch. We talked no to long ago, he will be sorely missed. I wish his wife Elise a lot of strength and comfort. Godspeed Richard. 12. Oh no! Hope it is something that can be fixed easily.

Really don't know what to say besides that I am really sorry Glen. Somehow she seemed to be hopeful in her messages and this comes as a complete shock. At least she is in a place she will feel free now and not tied down as she said was the worst for her.
  14. Those pictures are the best, so glad Eyore is healthy!
  15. Good question!!! Wish that in my days as a rep more people would have asked that. But as Judy said, unless there is a stool guard in there, the normal muzzle is safe (or is it save)
  16. You got some really good suggestions already. Something else you might want to look into to help her over the next period is a DAP collar (D.A.P. Dog Appeasing Pheromone) and Bach Rescue Remedy.
  17. Oh, that is sad news. So sorry for you both.
  18. If the vet gives the ok, I would go for it, but this sounds more like a money issue here.
  19. Karen and Guy, you both wrote such touching words about Lily. She obviously was very loved.
  20. Just wished we could Sorry it didn't work out for her.
  21. There are several things that can be the reason. Another one could be Cushing disease, which my seven year old galgo had. Combined with her drinking more, there is definitely a very good reason to see another vet to find out what the problem is.
  22. PM is on the way She somehow reminds me of the Chart Polski's I have seen.
