    My Baby Is Gone

This can't be happening. I am so sorry, this is so hard.
  3. You are on the right track, but it does really take time. With Lehto it also took longer then that and even these days it happens that he really needs an extra outing which he announces by ringing the bells that we have hanging on the front door. (he is 10, almost 11 months now) As for the crate, can you make that more of an ok place to be by giving him a frozen kong with treats inside? At that age a crate isn't fun, it still needs to be made fun. And yes, it is extremely frustrating at times, but it gets better, it just needs time. My DH thought Lehto would never get housebroken
  4. Johnny had a very high blood pressure which we found out when he was prescribed Proin which turned out to be a very bad combination. So it is possible for dogs to have high blood pressure but it is hard to get a good reading.
  5. We are feeding IAMS, the green bag and overall I never had to complain about it, besides the fact they seem to poop huge amounts, 4 times a day. And right now, I am feeding Lehto 4 cups a day and he just poops more, doesn't gain when given more. Also Cara, I cannot give her more , which she could use, because she will start pooping more and does it in the house. But they are always nice firm poops. This morning we bought our first bag of Solid Gold and will see if it will work for us. Cara's allergy issues have gotten worse and we are hoping a hollistic food will help her and we hope to be able to feed less and have less poop.
  6. Can't believe I am seeing this only now. Rachel, I am so sorry for your loss. You managed to document her life through so many beautiful pictures, it made feel like I knew her in person. She will be missed by many.
  7. Not to cause any trouble, but this statement is not true. The Galgo Español is a different, old, recognized breed with his own breed standard. If you translate the Spanish word galgo into english, you get greyhound, but it is greyhound from Spain. Galgo Español If a Spanish person is talking about the greyhound like most people know on this board, be it English, Irish, American bred, they call it the Galgo Inglés. And while it is true that many Irish greyhounds end(ed) up in Spain and there will be greyhound blood in many rescues, most of them are mostly Galgo Español You wouldn't call a Galgo Afgano a greyhound, would you? And while the Spanish say Galgo Húngaro, other countries call them Magyar Agár
  8. Hi, yep, galgo owners are welcome here. I have had galgo's since 13 years and have become a member several years ago.
  9. Have one like that here, with her I make sure I offer the treat below her nose, under her head, that way she has no chance to snatch it out of my hands and no teeth are showing. Try it, you'll see the difference. High with teeth, low with out teeth.
  10. So sorry you had to say good bye Dee. She must have been incredibly smart and so much fun to have around.
  11. Use common sense and be there, every time there are kids around Ruby. It is a basic rule and prevents trouble. Ruby gave you a warning, keep that in mind
  12. Been keeping an eye on him all day, his poops are speckled with tiny black dots. He really chewed it into very, very small pieces. I'll talk it through with the vet, but right now, he is as happy as can be, considering he didn't get to run in the backyard because of the rain.
  13. Lehto seems to be doing fine, no more puking and he has a good appetite. He may have puked up most of it, I don't know. But I will keep a close eye on him the next few days. And no more tennis balls in the house.
  14. Ok, first off, I am not the type running to the vet really fast if I can avoid it, in general I think common sense can safe you a lot of stress and money. So I decided to wait, since he seemed not in too much discomfort after he threw up the last time. Waited a bit longer and fed him a bit of food and he seems to be doing ok. I'll stay up for as long as I can. But yes, I am positive he ate the whole thing. Think he chewed it into very small pieces seen what he vomited up. As for now, no more vomit, although I am sure not everything came out yet, hope the rest will pass. But I'll keep a good eye on him and if he seems to be in any discomfort (he is sleeping now), he will be seeing the vet. Thanks for all the info, I'll let you know how he is doing tomorrow. Ok, reading back : safe should probably be save?
  15. Apparently, this afternoon, Lehto ate the tennis ball his agility teacher gave him. Tonight he has thrown up twice after our walk and a little treat. Looks like he bit the rubber in tiny little pieces. Just not sure if I should feed him tonight. Would be kibble with ground buffalo and beef added. And what are the signs of blokage that I need to look for. If needed we will be at the vet first thing in the morning. Sigh, puppies.
  16. Our little white monster recently got into my husbands almonds a few times. When looking it up, I get mixed stories. Are, or aren't they toxic to dogs, if they are, please tell me how bad it can get so I can scare the S#$% out of my husband. He doesn't seen to think it is a big deal and until now she is fine, but she already had several hands full over the last few weeks. For some reason this doesn't feel good, even though she doesn't seem to have problems.

  20. From the album: Projects for the galgo's

A collection of photographs taken by Petra Postma of her rescued sighthound Cara. Cara is one of the 40,000 galgos that the Spanish hunters discard every year. Part of the proceeds of this book goes towards galgorescue.

  21. Welcome, loved your pictures, they are so much fun. The third one, the black and white is my favorite.
