  1. Depends on the dose. Have you tried fiber caps (I get them at WalMart). They really work. You have to use them every day.
  2. Thank you all. Pablo came home today, riding in the front seat For those of you who don't know his story, here are some excerpts from emails between Cheryl (Heart of Texas) and I when I knew someone was coming from her (don't ask....it just happens ) We met in Schulenberg, and Pablo got out of Cheryl's van limping.....she swore he was fine when she put him in the van.....he had cut his foot. Pablo took a different stance at my house and I had to watch him -- with food: he was gated in the living room to eat; with stuffies -- the other "kids" learned to stay away from him. He ended up a benevolent alpha, he did mellow. The first four to six months, he ate, sometimes played with stuffies and laid on a dog bed looking depressed. In addition to all the other homes, he was in 3 or so foster homes. One day, he knew he was home! He became funny and because he was such a big guy, one could get hurt having fun No nerve or brain damage. The veil for him was very thin many times. I knew when the others were visiting. He loved laying in Rob Roy's spot and Rob Roy gave him heck at first. Poor Pablo would look up at the ceiling and I'd have to be stern with Rob Roy and tell Pablo it was ok, it was his spot now. Such a big presence and very much loved and missed. My Pablo is home.
  3. Do I have to save each picture or can I do it en mass somehow?
  4. Have you tried switching food proteins? Chicken would make Isaac's ears (and Pablo) red.
  5. That's what they always say. What are his platelets, HCT & RBC? If they are treating it like a vasculitis, pred would be the answer.

    The Legacy

Pablo ~ with enough love, broken can become happy and silly. His cookie dance was hysterical. Of course, my regret, is that I didn't get it on video. He would get the silliest look on his face, go backwards then forwards (with Grace barking in his ear) and backwards and forwards then start talking and if I still didn't move he'd plop into a perfect sit! I can't tell you how many times my foot got stepped on. He got so excited about cookies that I had to grab his collar and walk him (with Grace barking in his ear and then Isaac would join in) over to the cookie place. I can't believe how big a hole there is in this household without him. Big boy, big heart, big presence. He loved home and although he liked going for rides, he didn't want to be away long. Home was his safe spot. It's amazing what you can learn, if you but listen to them....
  8. Could be a side effect of the deramaxx. Did they give him a NSAID shot after the dental? Sending lots of prayers.

  10. You need to find Amicar which is usually found in hospital pharmacies. I take it your dog is bleeding now?
  11. From the start of limping to the time of not being able to manage the pain, for my 3 was around 8 weeks. They would limp, but not be in obvious pain (if that makes sense). Towards the end we did 100mg of tramadol every 4 hours. For Mahogany, we added some morphine and she was quite comofortable. I took both the girls before their leg broke. Pablo -- couldn't manage his pain well. Might have been able to add morphine, but I was very concerned about his size and if he went down, it would have been hard for me to tend to him. He had no control of the leg after going thru xrays. Make sure the xrays are read by a radiologist. Sending prayers.
  12. Isaac is miserable and for the first year Mizzy has some redness also. I really don't think it's food. When I keep the grass cut very short, they are better. The Genisis spray works well.
  13. Happy Bridge Birthday! I bet Jodie made him a cake
  14. Have you read Winslow's Diary? Sending prayers.
  15. Hopefully they did a urine culture. Sending prayers!
  16. Burp was around 7 or 8 when he started doing that. Vet told me to buy a lower fat food and it stopped immediately. Is it possible to get a lower fat food? What is the fat content now?

Eleven years and I still cry. Because it was my fault. Although it hurts when you lose any of them for whatever reason, when it's your fault, it is overwhelming. Quoting myself: As another thought/opinion: if you have to use a NSAID, don't do the shot, especially post op. Once it's given, you cannot take it back. If your dog has an adverse reaction to the drug, at least on the pills you can stop them and have some chance of recovery. Get those product inserts -- insist on them. Know what to look for as a side effect. Many vets do not know that kidney impairment can be a side effect of NSAIDs. <very big sigh and many tears> I love you Eliza and I still cannot wait to hug you and see that big smile. It's the only thing that will heal my heart. Hope you have many ferns in Rainbow Land

  19. to both you & Kevin. Quite a reunion at the bridge for your kids.
  20. Email Dr. Couto and see if he'll send the chemo drugs. I would do chemo locally and would go all out or not at all. Get good lung xrays before proceeding. That would be my next step. Some of the universities and specialty clinics have state of the art xray equipment.
