  1. Take blankets or a comforter or two and pads. They sell them (people) and they absorb and have a plastic bottom so the comforter may not get wet. I found them in the drug store or WalMart in the people area where they sell "stuff" like that. They are flat and fairly big (made to put under people who are incontinent) Sending prayers.
  2. Acupuncture works. It cannot cure some things, but can others and make life easier. The right vet coupled with the right patient can be amazing
  3. I would have flown in for this if it wasn't the same weekend as Sandy Paws. I am bummed too.
  4. Yes. Try one tramadol and see if that dose works. I've been lucky with it. All of mine so far have tolerated it well.
  5. I'd contact Ohio State. There is a low dose aspirin therapy for strokes they use.
  6. Can you find out if they have any greyhound experience? How did you choose a vet? I'd get a urine catch to take in, or wait until you get there and get a sterile cup from them.
  7. I've had several with sores between the toes--no cancer. Not sure why he chose this atb: Orbax p.s. make sure the xrays are read by a radiologist.
  8. Try the Frontline spray (not topical) Seems to work better. I would not use Advantix or Revolution. Some have used Advantage and as mentioned Adams Flea Spray is suppose to be ok.
  9. I wouldn't worry too much about her eating. Have you tried bread soaked in a little milk?
  10. Sending prayers. I'd try one of these vets. If her xrays are clear, acupuncture and chiropractic NANCY DECKER , DVM BS WELLNESS PATH HOLISTIC VETERINARY CARE 9425 OLDE EIGHT RD, #4 NORTHFIELD CENTER , OH 44067 Phone: 330-908-1030 Fax: 330-467-8579 Modalities Practiced: (Modality Quick Reference) AC AC(CHI) AK BF CH CN CM GT HMTX NU IAT MA REIKI WH Practice Preferences: SMALL ANIMAL www.wellnesspathvet.com NEAL SIVULA , DVM PhD, CVA, FAAVA DANCING PAWS ANIMAL WELLNESS CENTER 4646 W. 11. How many days of panacur? Unless they are stressed to the max, it's not behavorial.
  12. I buy acidolphillus pills at Whole Foods. Not very expensive--I think you can get a small bottle for around $8
  13. Make sure her blood work is good. I've had many a spay with no pain meds. They are all different. Metacam should be fine.
  14. Pred every other day is not a waste of time once the cycle is broken. It's how you keep adverse effects of pred down. Derm vets -- maybe there are some good ones. I've not found any or heard of any that did any better than a good all round vet. Benedryl will work with skin allergies by reducing the urge to scratch/lick. I would cut the grass extra short and see if it helps.
  15. I would do what is best for her and it sounds like the vet is saying amputate. I highly doubt the vet would say this if he/she didn't feel it best.
  16. Creatine is not too high. They can go 2.2, 2.3 as long as the BUN is normal, don't worry about it. BUN normal for greyhounds is the same as other breeds. You might see them go towards the top of normal as they age or if there is an infection (UTI, bad teeth)
  17. You have to get it at the vet. You should ask the vet about hitting the problem with pred every day for several days along with the Genesis spray, then going to every other day. Hopefully you can break the cycle. I would cut a lot of the ingredients as Batmom suggests, especially milk, flaxseed and chicken products. Try salmon or beef instead and see if it makes a difference. How are the inside of his ears? I'd try perhaps salmon & potatoes -- will he eat that? EVO 95% beef.
  18. That's what Isaac has (very bad) and Mizzy (very light). If the grass is cut short, he starts clearing up. This is his first year on grass (he is 10). Mizzy has been here two years and never been affected. It's very bad this year.
