  1. Fletcher occasionally holds up his left front foot, doesn't want to put weight on it. Turned out to be arthritis in his shoulder! Never would have guessed that. X-rays were the way we found out, so I would second (or third or whatever) X-rays, and have them do the whole leg.
  2. Sounds like a tick panel would be a good idea. Also, has he been tested for Valley Fever? It can present in some odd ways, and depending on where your dog raced (AZ?, Caliente?) he could have been exposed.
  3. how sad I am so sorry she didn't get to enjoy more of her new life
  4. :yay one of the most beautiful words!
  5. I am sorry his blindness wasn't temporary, but from what I have heard (no personal experience) most dogs adjust to being blind just fine. Also have no experience with high blood pressure, but it is important to get it under control (you already know that ) I use Pill Pockets to give pills. Other things may be a little cheaper, but PP are easy and not messy. Good luck!
  6. I am so sorry people who automatically overlook old dogs don't know what they are missing
  7. My dogs are 9.75, 9.5, and 7.75. Molly had her three year rabies this year, and I won't do it again at 12 if she is still with me. Fletcher is due this year, and I will give him the three year rabies, but again, that will be the last one. I'm not sure when Sallie is due again, but she will get one more, then stop. I've stopped all the others as well. They aren't exposed, and after 10 or so, I just don't think it's necessary. (No, I don't get a flu shot for me, either ) The only thing that might change my mind if I were in your situation is the wildlife. I think you live in a fairly rural area? What are then encounters with local wildlife like? Incidents of rabies in your area?
  8. Glad to hear she is doing better, and will get to come home. I know she will feel better at home, and I'll bet that helps the not-eating and the BP. for a complete recovery and B9 biopsy!
  9. never heard that one before now that my dogs are older, I only do the rabies, and after about 10, I don't even do that.
  10. What a terrible shock! I am so sorry
  11. I don't know any way to desensitize her to cats if she is that fixated on them, sorry! I would suggest trying a harness instead of a collar if you are worried about control, and to keep her from hurting her neck when she goes "cujo" (I speak from experience ) I hope somebody else has something more helpful
  12. My Sugar was on enalipril, lasix, and vetmedin. Kept her going for 3+ years. I losy her at 12 1/2 to causes unrelated to her heart.
  13. Poor Hot Rod (he does pathetic very well ) that it's nothing serious1
  14. I've even had very conservative, no supplement, no alternative medicine vets tell milk thistle is a good idea.
  15. What a sweet face! I am so sorry
