  1. I hope the x-rays turn up nothing, or at least, just something like arthritis. If it was just on slippery surfaces, I wouldn't worry. If it happens on surfaces where she has good traction
  2. What a beautiful face, I am so sorry
  3. I am so sorry the challenging ones leave such a huge hole!
  4. What a beautiful, special girl. I am so sorry she couldn't stay with you forever
  5. I have tried it for a couple of my dogs, one afraid of fireworks, one thunder phobic, but both had digestive issues with it so I wasn't able to keep them on it long enough to know if it would have helped.
  6. It is such a gift that she is able to spend her last days in happiness and love instead of pain and fear.
  7. I am thrilled they "only" found a fracture, but having just been through the nightmare of a missed cancer diagnosis, for my own peace of mind I would have the x-rays reviewed by a specialist. If the vet that did the x-rays is your group's vet, he should be familiar with what osteo looks like in greys, so you are probably fine, but like I said, for my own peace of mind...
  8. :pepper isn't it wonderful to finally find something that works!
  9. This is the kind of bandage I was talking about http://www.amazon.com/Curad-Tubular-Stretch-Bandage-Large/dp/B001MZKTI0
  10. I think for the bandage to stay on in that area you will have to wrap the vet wrap (or whatever you are using to hold it in place) up over his back to keep it from slipping. It will be tricky, and I am sure it will make him uncomfortable, poor baby. Your vet, or probably the tech, should be able to do this after his surgery. There are stretchy sleeve things that work well, but I still think it could slip. : bighug
  11. It is so hard when their body is failing but their spirit is still strong. Only you can decide when it is time, but I am afraid you are right, it will be soon
  12. Poor guy! They can be so hard to keep a bandage on! I hope the biopsy results are good
  13. My vet recommended this to me for Sallie. I read some links to some of his writing, it seemed very good.
  14. It might be nothing worse than arthritis, but as I know from bitter experience, not all vets are aware of bone cancer in greyhounds. If the pain meds fixed the problem, you could try keeping her on those indefinitely (which you would have to do if it is arthritis) but personally, I would be looking for a second opinion. FWIW, I have had greys with arthritis and greys with osteo, and none of them yelped or cried out in the beginning.
  15. I've used Stella & Chewey's frozen raw, and their dehydrated too. I only use the commercial raw as a supplement because of the expense, but they are perfectly fine.
  16. I am so sorry I do agree, letting her go on a fairly good pizza stealing day is better than waiting until she has no more good days. It is strange, and kind of sad, to not have the elaborate routine you have become used to
  17. All my dogs are/have been on supplements (except for Fletcher, they were all 6 or older when I got them) I like the Springtime Fresh Factors and Joint Health, although I did put Fletcher on something stronger as he got older because he had pretty bad arthritis. I have arthritis myownself and I do know that supplements help. I don't consider my dogs seniors until they reach 10, although 8 is generally considered senior in large dogs. I think it is an individual thing.
  18. I noticed a definite change after they turned ten. Up to that point, al my dogs have acted ageless, then all of a sudden, after their tenth birthday, they started to show signs of aging.
  19. What a beautiful little face. I am so sorry
