  1. We have a poo eater in Hattie. I don't think there is anything this kid won't eat. Bleh. We have a muzzle with poo guard for her. She tried to eat poo when she first had it, fail. Now she knows and as long as she has it on, she doesn't search out poo. She would follow Moonbeam around just waiting.. Gross! Love her bunches, but ew.
  2. Happy Birthday! Go celebrate with my Macho. Two gentlemen like you two would have a grand ol' time.
  3. I am so very sorry. I know he would tell you that he loved every moment with you.
  4. This was a great tribute. ((hugs)) I am so sorry he had to leave for his next adventure. Always too soon
  5. sending positive health and scritches for Huston, hugs and strength to you.
  6. ((Hugs)) I am so sorry. Run free sweet girl.
  7. At 4:45 PM two years ago today, we sent you on your way. We had you 11 months and two weeks. We were so rooting for the osteo to let us make a year together, but that was not to be. You were so young at 5 to leave us. It just isn't fair. Our first greyhound, you spoiled us. No aggression, no fears, and oh so gentle 80 pounds of handsome. You stole everyone's hearts. Macho Man by the Village People would always get sung for you anywhere we went. The last week, you and I were inseperable. I spent 24/7 with you and read to you. We are blessed with your littermate and you half sister as well as a crazy no relation kid. You wouldn't stand for us not having another greyhound and gave us your half sister on what would have been YOUR gotcha day. Thank you for visiting us still and sending signs that you are fine. I just heard your buddy Sam passed on yesterday. I know you two are digging thru giant toy boxes as I write this. I miss you so much. 2 years later and the tears still come. I suppose they always will. There will never be another Macho. I love you, always, Mom.
  8. My Macho... My first greyhound. Our world. Gone too soon.
  9. Agreed. X-ray. As soon as we have a limp, we x-ray. We lost Macho to bone cancer, and luckily our vet knew enough to x-ray as soon as the limp pronounced. You could barely detect anything, and two months later Macho was gone. Bone cancer is so nasty. I second the Dr. Cuoto consult! We just consulted with him a few months back with Keiva, because her x-ray was inconclusive. Dr. Cuoto just knows, and he is so kind and helpful and patient, and knowledgeable. He sees things other vets don't. He ruled out osteo on Keiva immediately. He consulted for us with Macho, and unfortunately that was an immediate confirmation that although our vet wasn't sure, Dr Cuoto said there was no mistaking it. So get the x-rays! Wishing you the best!
  10. Fsugrad.. We will be there with Hattie, Moon, and Keiva... If ya wanna meet up! We won't miss this for anything.
  11. Ditto what Bradymom said. Hattie is my doesn't-wanna-go-on-leash girl. It has taken a lot of patience, praise, and treats for going potty to get a 90 percent success from her on a leash. She has to have her space, so the other furkids can't go with her unless you give Hattie a longer lead and keep the others close. I can usually get her to go if we jog around and I sing a silly 'lets go potty..lets go potty like a good girl does' song... Don't mock me...it works whatever it takes ya know?
  12. It was a great tribute, and I am glad I was able to be a secret santa for him last year. I am so, so, sorry for your loss. :'(
  13. Oh no, my heart is breaking. *tissues, and passes them around* I am so sorry Pam. I will be thinking of you and Poodle tomorrow and sending strength. My heart is breaking with you, even though deep down I know it's the right choice. Never makes it easy.
  14. Although not a greyhound, it is with a sad heart that I post a goodbye. Bill Sharpsteen, founder of GCGA in Clearwater, has left us here to go be with all our rainbow babies. He let us adopt Macho. He was there as we battled osteo and made sure he came to say goodbye on Machos last day. We didn't always see eye to eye, but his heart was so big and the greys were his babies. Each one was his. He remembered every one that he adoped out, and shhh..he did have his favorites. Goodbye dear soul, please tell our Macho hello. You guys were bestest buds. He was your posterchild. Thank you for giving us that love. Thank you for supporting us when we adopted Moonbeam, Hattie, and Keiva..even though they weren't from you. I am sorry you left so soon, but have no doubt you are running with the Greys and taking care of each of them all over again. I have been told your group will live on, I am not sure of the plans...but know there are big shoes to fill. Run with the hounds! Miss you and thank you.
  15. Lab results in. Its NOT osteo. Phew. Sent to Dr Couto, as results inconclusive of a possible mensenchymal tumor but could just be normal cells for that area. Vet suggested xray in a month then if we see a change redo FNA. Regardless its a cause for celebration in this house tonight!
  16. And we wait some more. Should have results by Monday. IF we got enough to read. They had to try a couple times. So tired of waiting. And then will send the results and notes to dr couto. I am hoping so hard for good news.
  17. Update - we are taking her to our vet on Thursday at 5:30 for her fine needle aspiration so we can get those results and see if it's just bone loss, or something else. She has been in great spirits playing with Hattie (Moonbeam doesn't quite know what to do with Keiva ) and the arthritis is getting manageable. Here's to a continued good news path. I will keep you updated. Dr Couto is indeed amazing, can't say enough good things about how knowledgeable he is, and responsive!
  18. Dr Couto is da bomb! So responsive!!! Latest update: It is not likely to be osteo. The tumor that looks more like that is a squamous cell carcinoma, but osteomyelytis (infection) is also likely. It is also possible that the loss of bone in that toe is because she is not all that weight-bearing. Because of this he is requesting a fine needle aspiration. He has given us a referral if we need. Small jump for joy? Lol
  19. Me too. I just paid the consult fee and sent him the xray and back story. Crossing my fingers so hard that its just arthritis or something silly.
