  1. I'm so sad to here this news. I will miss that sweet soul.
  2. She's beautiful! You can't go wrong with a black houndie.
  3. Welcome. I love your description of your girls. It makes me feel like I know them already.
  4. That face would make me fail, too! Congratulations! Edited to undo autocorrect.
  5. In the SW or if your dog has been through the SW, there is always the possibility of a Valley Fever. Limping is how it often reveals itself. A simple blood check will let you know. Quite common here in AZ.
  6. Welcome! He's a handsome boy! (I looked him up on greyhound data). He looks like a Copper to me.
  7. Welcome! What an amazing adventure you are beginning! I know your nervous excitement well! We don't crate because Olivia hated it and was a perfect angel from day 1. But I know some dogs love their crates. As for toys, Chloe loves anything squeaky and stuffy. She will go bonkers over her toys. Livy didn't play with toys until Chloe moved in and taught her how. Livy is food motivated and loves treat dispensing toys best. It works well because they each end up with their own toys and don't have to share. Oh, and we'll want pictures when you get them.

    Little Millie

This was a shock. I'm so sorry for your loss. Run free, Little Millie.
  9. It would probably help to know what the cream is. My vet had me try a 60% salicylic acid cream on Olivia's corn probably 7-8 months ago. Cover it with duck tape, then put a sock on her foot, leave it on overnight, remove it in the morning. He had removed the corn, then it came back, it fell out on its own, then it came back again. At that point he suggested we try the salicylic acid experiment (he'd successfully removed a human wart with it in that strength and thought it might be worth trying on a dog corn.) It worked great. It softened up the skin around the corn and made it more comfortable for her to walk the next day. At her next appt. (2 weeks) he scraped off the dried up skin and the corn came with it. Hasn't come back yet - on that toe. Now, a new one has started growing on her opposite foot but ironically on the same spot on the corresponding toe. Go figure! Just finished putting on the first application of the cream 15 minutes ago. I'm curious to see if it works just as well again.
  10. Hester is such a special boy, with his own way of bonding and affection. The two of you seem to share something special. Isn't it amazing how just the right dog finds the human they both need? I've noticed similar with Livs. We just passed our two year mark. It has been within the past few months that she has become much more affectionate on her own. She's always been a sweetie but it just keeps growing exponentially.
  11. Welcome! Arrow sounds wonderful.
  12. She's so cute (and funny, too, I assume)! I can't wait to read about her antics!
  13. So sorry for your loss. Run free, sweet princess.
  14. Yeah, it especially worries me that the receptionist said he was their best. Yikes!
  15. Chloe gotta another gash/cut (we call her Clutsy Chloe) and the e-vet (who also thought she need full anesthesia for a few sutures and that greyhounds were just like all other dogs and did not need special consideration for anesthesia) prescribed Clavamox 250 mg for her antibiotic. But he prescribed a 20 day dosage! That seems a little excessive to me. I thought 10 was standard. It's not like her wound was super bad or anything or already showing signs of infection. I already have my concerns about this guy. Should I be concerned about following his instructions about the 20 days? Could that actually harm her? He also told me I HAD to get the RX filled there and did not want to give me a written script. I insisted and easily got it filled for half the cost at Diamondback Drugs.
  16. From the website: The Annual Greyt Gathering in Phoenix will be Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 in Tempe Papago Park softball field from 10am to 3pm. Joining us this year will be the Greyhound Guild in Renaissance Faire regalia!. Food, fun, raffles adoptable hounds! Watch for more info about sign-up.
  17. Yes, that was probably me! Both of my girls are GPA-AZ girls. And just in case you don't know, they are having a big event next month - The Greyt Gathering. It's a big picnic with lots of venders, lots of greyhounds, and a Fun Run for the dogs. (But my girls seem to forget how to run at those and just kinda trot back and forth!) And I'm sure there will be lots of adoptables to meet, too!
