  1. Dr. Gaston ROCKS! And his staff is great too. And if you go and see him, tell him that Anne from Arizona says hey! I loved Dr. Gaston and miss him like crazy. He's great with the dogs and listens to you and will work with you so that you are happy and your dogs are happy!!! He was my vet for quite a number years when I lived in Cincinnati. He's a great teacher too and goes out of his way to make sure you understand everything. He's a little far out off I-74 but worth the drive. I didn't care for Dr. Neubauer and he was quite a bit more expensive than Dr. Gaston, well, a lot more expensive about 7 years ago.
  2. My Cali takes rimadyl and has for over a year. She's 14 and tolorates it VERY well. It has never made her loopy. If not for the rimadyl, she would be at the bridge since she probably wouldn't be walking any more. I refused to give rimadyl to my dogs for a long time and I deeply regret doing that as I think I caused them some discomfort by using less effective drugs for their pain, usually from dental surgery or other small surgeries.
  3. I'm so sorry for your loss, he sure was a handsome boy. Godspeed Valentino.
  4. I'm sure he will be missed. I'm so sorry.

    Abita Romeo

I'm so very sorry. I know how hard it is. Our hearts get broken and yet we keep adopting these wonderful dogs, somehow.. somewhere it's all worth it, the love we get from them and the joy they give us, it's all worth it. God Bless and God Speed Romeo.
  9. I've never tried/heard of it, but will be waiting to hear if it works for you. And will have all fingers/toes/paws etc. crossed for positive results!

  13. I've only had two normal (or not special needs dog) greyhounds. Lynch is blind. Lulu has SEVERE separation anxiety (is on prozac). Sugar is a bonafide spook. Cali is pretty normal and Phantom was a normal greyhound. Frasier was a 4 time bounce due to severe separation anxiety, and developed seizures, slo, hypothyroid, laryngeal paralysis, and something else or two that slips my mind at the moment. I don't consider something like having to take a thyroid pill twice a day for forever as special needs, some do. I'm getting old I guess, I love the special ones, but probably won't go out of my way to adopt a special needs dog in the future.
  14. I'm so very sorry, it's tough to lose a friend, but worse when you have two leave so close together. God Speed Sami.
  15. As with anything in the entire world, it works for some and for some it does nothing. I had my dogs on the level 5000 (liquid health) and for a time, several years, it did seem to help them all. Eventually it didn't seem to do much for my oldest dogs, so I tried rimadyl and the difference was amazing. So the younger dogs get the liquid health and when it is no longer helping them, they go to rimadyl. My 14 year old would be gone without her rimadyl, no question in my mind at all. But I think that the liquid health did let her get to the old age of 13 before we had to do something stronger or different. I have tried Springtimes stuff for humans with not one iota of effect on my sore joints. I tried a different brand of glucosamine/chondroitin/msm and nothing at all except my money dissapearing. I take advil and get relief, it works and I'm not going to argue with it. As with anything, try it, it might be just what the doctor ordered or it may do nothing at all for you or your pet.

  17. I hope Tuna heals up quickly and without any problems at all. And WOWOWOWOWOW what a dog sitter, WOW! I would get her some gift certificates to a store and a resturant and she would get a really REALLY nice Christmas bonus from me in December!
  18. It kind of sounds like my Frasier when he had his first vestibular issue. ??? It took a few days for him to be back 100%. Lynch's vestibular was more severe. A friend's dog just went through this last week, though it was more severe. Hope you figure it out and it's something minor.
  19. Awe, what a cutie she was, I'm sure you're going to miss her terribly. I'm so sorry she had to leave you.
