I'm so sorry, please give your Mom my condolences.
  2. I'm so very sorry for your loss. No matter how long you have them, it's never long enough.
  3. I am so sorry for all your loss, I can't imagine how difficut it must be.
  4. I'm so very sorry, Godspeed Eclipse.
  5. My Phantom had this, and it was cured by antibiotics the first time for over a year and then it came back, so I had it pulled. He was amazingly more comfy after it was gone. Bacardi hould feel much more like himself after that mean old toofer is gone.
  6. I have a female who can't hold it all night. (she's 14.5 so I forgive her!) and I bought a dozen of the bed pads that are used for humans. I got them off Ebay and they are WONDERFUL! Since they are washable, they are cheaper in the long run and more green than the disposable ones.
  7. Oh no, I'm so very sorry.
  8. I'm so very sorry, Godspeed Matty.
  9. Pumpkin is one of those things that's good if you can't go and good if you go too much, so I would kind of doubt that the pumpkin would constipate him. And since you mention that he's killing grass with his pee (over and above the normal grass killing!) I guess maybe I would ask if he's getting plenty of water? I worry about that with my dogs, so each of them gets water over their food both meals and that helps a lot on the water intake. Good luck, and smooches to Mac Daddy.
  10. I am so very sorry for your loss. She was a beauty. Godspeed Misty.

    I'm so very sorry.
  12. I use benedryl. It's great, safe and cheap. I only have 2 dogs who freak (and oddly enough, it's NOT my spook who doesn't care about getting nails trimmed!) when I cut nails. My vet also told me that I could use a small does of ACE if absolutely necessary, but I've never had to use it. I also agree that sometimes strangers can cut nails that I can't. I believe if someone is nervous about doing it, the dog knows/senses this and freaks too.
  13. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
  14. Oh how I miss you my sweet Phantom.
  15. I'm so very sorry. Godspeed Willie.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Godspeed Sydney.
  17. I've had two dogs with vestibular issues and it sounds just like both of their first episodes. One of my dogs eventually went into seizures after his second vestibular incident and the other had one that he recovered from quickly and the second one took him almost 6 months to come back 95%. The first dog is at the bridge for unrelated issues and the second one is still with me and it's been at least 18 months since his last issue, might even be two years, no more issues and hopefully never any more. A friends dog just did the same thing only much worse than either of mine, and it took her dog about a week and she was back about 80% and in the last 2 months she's about 90%. She was going to euthanize her dog and after about 30 hours she began recovering, it was kind of amazing to watch.
  18. Um, yeah, pretty much it does, not as big as the aorta, but it will pulse (arteries are where we feel pulses) and you will bleed to death from a severed artery and it won't take very long.
  19. I'm so very sorry, words fail me. My heart is breaking for you. Godspeed Roo.
  20. Maybe it's because I live in the middle of no where at the moment and I have my choice of one vet or no vet at all. Or maybe it's because I'm a nurse. Anyhow, if this vet has a good reputation and if you like them (other than this issue) I would do my best to work with your vet. I don't know what kind of test you did or where it was sent. If he's not done a full panel that went to Michigan State University, then I would have your vet do this first. Different labs use different scales and therefore have different norms and you can't be 100% sure unless it goes to Michigan. I have had two of my own greyhounds with hypothyroidism and a number of fosters with it, and all took meds. None of them was overweight. Not all of them had fur issues. Every dog is different. Best of luck and I hope that you get this all straightened out to your satifaction and to your dogs well being.
  21. I have been thinking this which is why I called the vet myself this morning. He showed not ONE BIT OF REMORSE! He said that there was a "complication" during surgery, I asked what happened and he said that a ligature has been left untied and that blood/liquid had clotted down one side of his leg. He said it could be weeks before it went down IF it went down at all! I said what are the consequences of this happening and he said, he would be at risk of infection if he had an injury and this could lead to amputation... He said that I should think twice about taking Fallon home while his leg was still swollen. If I bring him home next week I can massage and try to do everything required to help him....has anyone else experienced this kind of swelling? He certainly doesn't seem to be helping his own case does he? If you want to bring the dog home, I would find a vet who you like and take him to that vet. I would think that the blood would eventually be absorbed by the body, though it may take a while. I wonder if a compression bandage would help? I would ask your personal vet that question. Again, the surgery had problems, that happens. It may or may not have been his error even, he could have had a tech or another vet assisting and if there are more than one vet in the practice, it may not have been him doing the actual surgery etc. etc. etc. There are too many "ifs - ands - or buts" that could have been responsible. It seems though that he has been honest with you about it and that's a plus for him. Honestly, I'm surprised he even talked to you unless it was you who paid for the neuter, so again, even though he seemed unremorseful over the phone we don't know the details etc. If you don't like him, make sure that you never use him for your dog/dogs. I personally would allow the track/trainer take care of him until he's recovered. You have to do what your heart tells you to do. I hope Fallon recovers quickly and fully, I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
