  1. I wouldn't worry as long as there are no other symptoms. I'm a pet sitter and I'm sometimes surprised at which dogs snore.
  2. Ummmm... Gross. I'm a pet sitter in CT and haven't heard of anything going around like that. That said, there could be something going around near you. Or your guys could have gotten into something they weren't supposed to. I'm glad that they are all starting to feel better.
  3. I have a black boy as well and has all the bald spots that you mentioned. I've had him a bit over a year and he hasn't really been crated much for a few months now. I'm not worried, in fact in amuses the heck out of me.
  4. I wouldn't worry. I've never seen a suicidal dog. I do have to add that my mom sleeps nose down in the pillow and I've always wondered how she breathes like that. She just turned 62, I think she's OK.
  5. Revolution. I found 2 cats on the side of the road and took them and their fleas in. I put revolution on the 2 cats I already had immediately after I brought the strays in. The next day, after talking to my vet I put revolution on the 2 strays. I never saw a flea in my apartment. I love revolution. It's a topical like frontline, but you need a prescription.
  6. I doubt it can hurt him very much. From what I remember someone telling me, tomorrow morning and tomorrow night give him half doses and he should be fine. I would wait for others to chime in, but I'm pretty sure 1 extra dose can't hurt.
  7. I vaccinate for everything. I'm a dog walker and Bu goes to work with me. Even when he doesn't go with me, I don't know what I'm going to come home with. I also take him walking on trails in the woods and swimming in streams, ponds and lakes. He also goes to the dog park and sometimes to doggy day care. For us, with our lifestyle, I wouldn't risk not getting the vaccines. In fact, before my vet does certain vaccines, he asks us about different things we do and if we do high risk things, then he'll vaccinate, otherwise he says not to give certain vaccines. On the other hand, if we didn't have the lifestyle we have now, he wouldn't get nearly as many vaccines as he does. You need to weigh your lifestyle and his exposure to things against the risks. It is going to be different for every dog and every family.
  8. Two of my clients have this problem. One is on pill every day, not sure what med though. The other is on proin twice every day and is doing well. If they can stay on it every day, does that work?
  9. I agree with a strict elimination diet. I'm a pet sitter and all the dogs I know with food allergies the symptoms started with itchy feet. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
  10. I'm a big fan of baby oil and letting it soak in a bit. Good luck.
  11. I live in CT (where lyme disease was originally found) and go into wooded areas a lot with my black hound. I use a preventic collar and I have not found any ticks on him since we started using it. As long as you do good tick checks and use a good preventative, I wouldn't worry much.
  12. Are both eyes infected, or just 1? If it's something like pink eye, I wouldn't go near the dog. If it's only 1 eye, I wouldn't be that concerned, they eye could have had an irritation causing the infection and that wouldn't be very contagious. Plus, if it's very contagious, both eyes would be infected, not just 1.
  13. The pooping multiple times can be marking, and since you recently moved, there's more to mark. I would also get her anal glands checked. I know some dogs have some loose poop or need to go more often when they need to be expressed.
  14. Awwwww poor guy. I hope you find out what's going on with him soon, for his sake and your cars.
  15. Good luck Ben, Hopefully it's just impacted feces.
  16. I probably would have induced vomiting if I had figured it out within an hour of ingestion. But if it's been awhile, you'll just have to wait it out. I'm sure he'll be fine. Growing up we had a standard poodle, who took my brothers condom out of the garbage and brought it to my mother. My sister-in-law (who was just the girlfriend at the time) was never a big fan of the poodles after that.
  17. If you need to slow down a dogs eating, there are actually bowls made for that now. The brake-fast bowl is the 1 I know, and it works well.
  18. My boy is chipped with an Avid chip. I'm not sure why, but my vet put it towards the top of his shoulder and not between his shoulder blades. It's close enough that it shouldn't be a problem. What I like about where it is, is that I can feel it and touch it so I know it hasn't moved.
  19. I guess I'm lucky too. If they saw humans I'd go to them, they are that great.
  20. I have Bu vaccinated for everything. I'm a pet sitter and he comes to work with me. I also go to parks and down wooded trails with him. Even my indoor only cats get everything because I don't know what I'm going to come home with. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  21. W/D was the only prescription diet that worked for my boy. It has a higher fiber content than the I/D. In fact, it actually worked too well and I had to take him off of it because he was pooping sooooo much. But it firmed things up. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
  22. I'm curious what the vet said about the skin covered tooth. Did you get any details?
  23. I use Revolution and I love it. I found 2 cats on the side of the road and kept them. They also came with fleas. I put the revolution on them and never saw a flea again. They revolution will kill all the fleas in the cats environment. Good luck.
  24. I use baby oil for that type of thing. put it around the edges and let it soak and repeat.
  25. It can be anything from the evil thing, to a painful callous. I hope for the callous and will be thinking of you and Connor. Let us know how it goes at the vet.
